12 yearsGot a dodgy call from someone with an Asian accent saying her name was Christine. She claimed my internet was at risk because I’d supposedly been downloading illegal stuff. Told me to switch on my computer and press the Windows and R keys together. She acted all surprised when I didn’t see the remote login window she expected. Then she asked me to type in www.teamviewer.com as if that would fix everything. I made up an excuse about needing to do something else and asked if I could ring her back. She gave me a number, 01515287183, and asked when I wanted her to call again, so I said in an hour. Later when I checked, my caller ID showed a similar number, 0151287183, so it’s definitely a scam. I reported it to Action Fraud but they said they’d only contact me within 40 hours, which isn’t very reassuring. Please be careful with calls like these!UKChristineAction Fraud12 yearsGot a call like that not long ago, but the bloke said his name was Steve Austin... Anyway, I’m ringing my internet company now to check it out!Steve Austin12 yearsGot a call from someone who sounded Asian, saying he was Charlie Marsh from BT Broadband Tech support. He told me my broadband would be disconnected the next day because my computer was infected with viruses downloaded through the BT lines without permission. He wanted me to run "eventvwr" so he could point out the errors. I said no and eventually hung up. After checking my PC was fine, I rang back the number he gave reluctantly. Another bloke answered, also claiming to be from BT Tech and promised to connect me to Charlie Marsh. I didn’t trust it and ended the call again. Charlie rang me two more times but I told him I’d verify with BT first. The number showed up on my Sky 1471 as 010999 - feels like a dodgy scam to me and should definitely be reported to the proper authorities!Charlie MarshBT Broadband TechBT BroadbandBT TechBTSubmit Your Own Report (0151 528 7183)
