It's not actually a scam, it's a debt collection firm named Ardent Credit Services, connected to HMRC. I got a text from them about a VAT payment they said was overdue, even though I’d already sorted it weeks before. When I called them back to clear things up, they were very professional, which is rare with debt collectors. After I sent them proof that I'd paid, they promptly closed my file.
