Received a call from a firm about PPI claims. They called me “Mrs [my-surname]”. My mum’s been gone for a few years and she never had PPI anyway. The person on the phone was quite insistent, kept trying to chat about PPI. He kept saying he wasn’t working off a list for these calls and was very firm about that. Not sure what else you’d call a “set of connected names or numbers arranged one after the other” if it’s not a list.

Ring me up yesterday, nice lady sounded quite local. She went on about some PPI thing, but I never claimed to have any. Asked if I ever had a credit card or mortgage, which I have, but no PPI involved. Offered to help, but told her no thanks. Told her she wouldn't be doing me any favours. Said goodbye and cut off the call while she kept chatting away. Number’s blocked now.

It’s a scam, they trick you into saying yes and then use it as proof you agreed to buy something, charging you for stuff you never ordered. They take your yes and splice it into a fake phone call recording. Best not to pick up and just block the number.

They kept asking strange questions, like wanting me to give a fake name and pushing me to say yes to everything. I told them they’d got the wrong number and I wasn’t up for chatting. Chucked them on auto block and sent a report.

Somebody said they were from a PIP refund company. My phone number is actually for medical emergencies (not just something I say to avoid calls like these, it really is). Even after I told him this, he just kept going on. When I pushed back, he said he understood but then tried to sell me the service on a personal level anyway. When I finally said, ‘Are you honestly still chatting when there could be a real medical emergency waiting?’ he still didn’t stop - absolutely ridiculous!

Got a call from this number, and as soon as I answered, they asked me who I was. I turned around and asked who they were instead, and the girl on the other end wanted me to say who I was first.
