6 yearsGot a call from some recorded voice saying I owe tax to HMRC, but they didn’t give any names or address details to show who the message was actually meant for. They kept pushing to press 1 to speak to an advisor right away, warning that if you don’t, you’ll get arrested and a warrant will be issued. It’s obviously a scam. HMRC would never call about tax issues using a recorded message, and definitely wouldn’t threaten arrest like that. Plus, they usually ask for the person by name if they ever phone. Don't fall for this rubbish!HMRC6 yearsGot a call with an automated message saying I owed taxes to HMRC, but it didn’t give any name or address to say who the warning was actually for. It said if you don’t press 1 to speak to an advisor straight away, a warrant will be issued and you’d be arrested. Pretty obviously a scam - HMRC wouldn’t ever send a recorded call like that, and they certainly wouldn’t scare people with arrest threats. Plus, they’d normally mention the person’s name, not just some generic threat. Definitely phishing.HMRCSubmit Your Own Report (0151 238 3684)
