Got a call from some recorded voice saying I owe tax to HMRC, but they didn’t give any names or address details to show who the message was actually meant for. They kept pushing to press 1 to speak to an advisor right away, warning that if you don’t, you’ll get arrested and a warrant will be issued. It’s obviously a scam. HMRC would never call about tax issues using a recorded message, and definitely wouldn’t threaten arrest like that. Plus, they usually ask for the person by name if they ever phone. Don't fall for this rubbish!

Got a call with an automated message saying I owed taxes to HMRC, but it didn’t give any name or address to say who the warning was actually for. It said if you don’t press 1 to speak to an advisor straight away, a warrant will be issued and you’d be arrested. Pretty obviously a scam - HMRC wouldn’t ever send a recorded call like that, and they certainly wouldn’t scare people with arrest threats. Plus, they’d normally mention the person’s name, not just some generic threat. Definitely phishing.
