Got a call from a woman named 'Mary' with a strong Asian accent claiming she worked for BT. She started off talking about my IP address and all the typical scam lines. I told her my internet was fine, cheers, but she kept pushing that someone had accessed my emails. Felt like a proper scam, no doubt. After I politely ended the call, she rang me back again which was a bit annoying. Oddly, no voicemail was left either. Reading through other comments, looks like these types often keep calling repeatedly.

I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent who actually knew my name, saying she was calling from BT about an internet issue. I tried to explain that my internet provider is Plusnet, but she kept pushing the same story. Eventually, when I stopped engaging, she just ended the call.

While I was with my elderly mum, this number rang her and she handed me the phone when the caller started talking about the internet. The woman insisted that her account had been hacked and personal info stolen. She wanted me to look at the router lights and report back. Thing is, my mum doesn’t even have broadband or a router! She wouldn’t listen and when I said it sounded like a scam, she quickly ended the call. That was all the confirmation I needed that it was dodgy.

Got a couple of calls from 01490340408, one was dead silent on 3rd May 2022. Then early the next morning on 4th May, they rang again with loads of noise in the background. There was this female voice, sounded Asian, that kinda repeated what I said back at me before they abruptly ended the call. Seems dodgy to me, so I'm definitely not trusting any more calls from this number.

I got a call from a guy who spoke with an Asian accent claiming he was from BT Openreach. He said my internet had some kind of problem that my provider couldn’t spot. When I questioned him about it, he suddenly turned really rude and pushy. Quite off-putting, really.

What a muppet! Some bloke rang me claiming there was an issue with my BT internet, which is laughable as I'm actually with EE. The call was from Mumbai and honestly, the line was so garbled I could barely understand him. To top it off, his accent was so heavy that I'm pretty sure BT wouldn't have hired him either. I've since blocked the number; can't be bothered with that nonsense!

Got a call from a bloke askin’ if I was Mrs ….., but I had a feelin’ it was one of those scams, so I went along with it and told him I was actually the cleaner, and that she wasn’t home right now. He sounded proper confused and just mumbled an ‘OK’, so I just said cheerio and hung up. Definitely a scam if you ask me.

I got a call on my landline from a bloke with an Indian accent claiming he was from BT, saying my broadband had been compromised. I said my broadband wasn’t with BT and quickly ended the call. Moments later, he rang right back, telling me not to hang up as he was just trying to help and that no matter who my provider was, the connection went through BT. He asked me to turn on my computer, but I refused. Things got a bit tense after that, so I hung up once more and unplugged the phone.

been ringin me nonstop since 8:15 this morning, about 5 calls so far - annoyin cos I gotta pick up sometimes. the lady on the other end had that Indian accent like a customer service call centre, saying smth about my computer and BT openreach. I had a call from some bloke with a super heavy Indian accent - honestly, you could almost slice it with a knife! The only term that made any sense to me was "BT" since he completely skipped on speaking proper English. Seems like it's one of those BT broadband scams I've read about here, where they claim hackers have nicked your IP or some dodgy stuff like that, just to try and get into your PC. Sounded like a classic trick to me.

I got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent that was a bit tricky to understand, saying there was a BT line fault caused by a nasty virus on my computer. We had a fairly amusing chat going until he suddenly seemed to think I was pulling his leg and just dropped the call. He kept pushing that "we want to fix your Microsoft issues," which painted a pretty dodgy picture in my head. I just joked, "That’s what they all say - why not take me out for dinner first?" but by then he’d already hung up. Sketchy intentions and pretty poor execution on his part.
