Picked up the phone and some guy was saying my PPI claim got accepted. I was like, not sure if those PPI paybacks are still a thing, asked him a few times but he just gave me a dodgy excuse and couldn't really back it up with any info. I told him surely he should ask some security questions first, then he just cut me off. Pretty clear it's a scam trying to get your info, best to just hang up or mess with them a bit.

Got one of those typical offshore fraudsters ringing me about some PPI scheme, sounded Indian too. I was chilling in the garden when he called, so I just let him ramble on for a good 10 minutes. The idiot didn’t even bother to change the fake UK number he called from. Since those cost about a tenner on the dark web, or even free if you know your way around, he’s clearly not a very clever scammer!

Since the mysterious caller appeared to be ringing from my local area, I gave them a ring back using a different phone, making sure to hide my number just to be safe. Surprise, the number was dead! Had another go on the landline - dead again! Bloody scammers from South East Asia pretending to call from the UK, as usual. Honestly, I wish they’d 01 21 just piss off and get a proper job. From what I gather, it’s the doctors and banks that leak our details, and that’s just wrong on so many levels.

I just received a call from someone claiming to be representing Blackhorse, saying I had an entitlement to a refund for PPI, amounting to £2000. Definitely felt like a scam to me!

Got a call from someone saying they were from Black Horse Finance about a PPI claim. They told me the payout would go straight into my bank. I asked who actually made the PPI claim, and they said it was done 5 years back. When I asked for his name, he got all annoyed and refused to share any details. Then he wanted my surname to check it was really me. I told him if I claimed, he’d know my surname already. He kept pushing for my last name, and I kept saying he should know it so maybe he could tell me my surname instead. The call finished with him saying “oh nevermind” and then he just hung up.

They called me using my first name and the road I live on. Said it was from poi and black horse finance. I don’t have any finance with them, only with Lloydstsb bank. So at first I thought it might be legit. They never mentioned my house number though, which I gave and was actually wrong. Then they asked for my last name, I asked them to say theirs instead. That’s when they just hung up. How on earth do they have all this info? I’m really unsettled and feel a bit threatened. What are the financial ombudsman and banks doing to keep us safe?

First, an Indian lady called, then handed the phone over to an Indian guy. They said they were helping me claim PPI and needed to check my ID. Shortly after, I got a message from my bank saying someone was trying to make changes to my online banking. It’s definitely a scam. They already have some details on you and try to get the verification code so they can get into your account. I rang my bank’s Fraud team and they confirmed it was a scam. Just hang up, don’t trust them!

A guy with an Indian accent called me saying my e-on account was about to expire and I had to authorise a new contract right then over the phone before they could send any paperwork. I told him I was with Bgas instead, but he insisted I wasn’t. I just told him to do one and ended the call. Then he rang my workplace five times! When I answered, I told him again I wasn’t with e-on and was actually on the phone to them complaining, so he hung up. He kept asking why I’d cut him off so many times.
