I rang them back and it turned out to be Approved Energy Solutions. Their voicemail has an email you can message if you want to stop getting calls from them. I didn’t jot it down properly but I did speak to someone there who was really sorry about the hassle and said they’d take my number off their list. Fingers crossed it works!

My BT8600 phone has a call blocker that makes unknown callers say who they are before I decide if I wanna pick up or not. But this lot never say anything, so they’ve never managed to get through for me to talk to them.

Got a call from someone claiming to be ‘Approved Energy Solutions’ saying they’d sent me a leaflet about engineers needing access to my home to check energy and emissions. I told them I wouldn’t let anyone in unless I got a proper official letter explaining why, how, and when. I reported it to the police and they advised me not to let anyone in and to double-check with my energy supplier. I rang SSE and a very helpful guy there confirmed it was a scam. He told me only to let people in if their ID is thoroughly checked and I’ve been properly informed beforehand. Absolute crooks!!

They called me three times today even after I asked for the name and contact details of their data protection officer. Seems like they weren't aware that it's a legal requirement to have one! As soon as I mentioned it was a scam and illegal, they quickly hung up!!

So it was the TPS lot again calling, they rang like 30 times over 3 days about 9 weeks back. When they finally got me on the phone, they tried getting my home address, Visa card number and even the full PIN! Plus, they asked how many people were with me and when I’d be out on any day of the week. That’s when I told them to do one and stop wasting my time. Then get this, just this afternoon at 2.10pm they rang again. When I answered and asked who it was, they just hung up on me without a word. Proper annoying bunch, honestly.

From what I’ve read here, sounds like this call is going around a fair bit. A polite bloke, knew my name and where I live, asked if I was the owner of the house. He was trying to set up a visit to check energy efficiency, like doors and windows, and to provide an energy certificate. I told him I’m all sorted with saving energy already. At my age, saving energy is pretty important! The call finished on a friendly note.

A man called himself Jake and said he was promoting some government scheme to help cut energy waste at my place. I asked him how he got my phone number, since I’m on the TPS list, and he claimed they got it from some energy users database? Does that even exist? I told him to take my number off their list and he said he would and said sorry for bothering me - fair play to Jake for that, but I’m not convinced this is the last time I’ll get a call from them!

I usually let my phone go to voicemail. If someone’s close to you, you can tell if it’s a mate or family cause they’ll leave a message - but either way, it’s up to you if you wanna pick up or not. Scammers hardly ever leave messages on answerphones, from what I’ve seen. It’s been good for me.

Got a call from a bloke saying we needed new windows for some energy saving reason. He was pushy, really hassling my mum, who’s a pensioner, saying her windows were letting in a "bloody draft" and kept insisting she definitely wanted new ones. He was really rude, blunt and over the top, which made her quite upset and shaken.

A window salesman hailing from up north - always a bit suspect, if you ask me. You know what they say: if the spiel sounds a bit shifty, chances are the firm and their wares are just as dodgy!

Got a call asking for my late father in law. When I said he’d passed away, the caller just laughed and hung up - disgusting behaviour! I have no idea what dodgy outfit they work for, but that person needs fired and the company should face legal action. Telemarketing like this should be illegal.

Phoned a number that's supposed to be on the TPS, but they wouldn't tell me any employee names, refused to share their company address, used a fake company name, and then said they had no clue where they’d driven in to work today.

I've received two such calls today, and both times they simply hung up. I don't quite understand what's going on with that. As someone who is on the xdirectory list, it really grinds my gears that my details are passed around to other businesses. It's an invasion of my privacy, and I firmly believe that there should be stricter laws preventing companies from peddling my information. It feels like this sort of practice ought to be outlawed!

I just got another call like the ones before, some bloke claiming to be from an energy firm, but then he started going on about windows and doors. I told him all my doors and windows are brand new, and he just snapped back saying "You can't have". I told him I was well aware because I had all the work done myself. The guy was really rude and gave off a dodgy vibe, so I figured he probably wasn’t from a reputable company that’d let their staff talk like that. I ended up just hanging up. Weirdly, he already had my name and address..?

They said they was ringing about an energy saving survey in my area. Problem is, no such survey was ever happening. Got this call twice in one day as well. When I told them I’d already had a call, they pretty much accused me of lying.

this number called my dad asking if he wanted to adopt an old dog, then suddenly started asking about his double glazing. as soon as my dad figured out the call was nothing to do with a dog, they just hung up. proper annoying and sneaky seller, totally on the s#bbag list!
