I got a call from this outfit saying they were sorting out a PPI claim for me, even though I never made one. When I asked more questions, they said I was owed £1800 but the government would keep £800 of it. Then they said some new rule meant if I’d taken life insurance after 1st April 2018, the government bit wouldn’t apply. Next thing, they tried to sell me life insurance! I just laughed and told them to get lost. Proper dodgy, risky scammers from overseas.

Got a call from a guy with an African accent saying I’d been approved for PPI on my mortgage (apparently ongoing). Didn’t know the name of the company, so I asked for my DOB but wouldn’t give it. Then I asked if he was with FCA or FSCA, he said FCA. Told him I wasn’t familiar with them and then he just ended the call.

Received a call earlier today claiming my PPI claim had been approved. I was rather taken aback and queried which PPI they were referring to, given it was ages ago that I submitted my claim. They mentioned that their records indicated I was due just over £1,000 stemming from a mortgage. The caller rattled off my name and wanted me to confirm my date of birth, but I flat-out refused and ended the call. It's noteworthy that this same number has reached out thrice today already, so I’ve made the decision to block it.

SLICK ANNOYING CALL - they tell you to answer some questions but then quickly throw in stuff about getting marketing messages after. I ended up calling the guy a NAME and he just hung up once he saw I caught onto what he’s doing, and I’m usually quite civil. I got a call telling me I’ve got a PPI claim for £1800 that’s apparently been with the Financial Ombudsman. They said a cheque would be sent to me in 30 days, but it’ll be post dated because of some delay. When I go to cash it, the bank will supposedly take 45% as tax. But if I purchase some sort of policy, they say I can avoid this tax?? I told them I’d check it out since I’ve never heard of this bank tax before, and I’ve also never had any contact from the FO about this.

Absolutely dodgy scammers, sounded like the typical Asian accent but they never say who they are or what they want - watch out & block them fast!

Definitely a scam, I rang them back (probably shouldn’t of but the Guildford area code made me think it was local) and got a recorded message saying ‘number not in service.’ Big thanks to everyone who’s been reporting, it’s really helpful to be able to double-check. Cheers x

Received a call on my mobile from someone claiming to be with an insurance firm. They had my name and were aware of my current insurance provider, which was rather unsettling. The caller mentioned that the government was introducing a 30% tax on all insurance premiums, but he could assist me in avoiding this tax while also boosting my life coverage. He went on to say that my life policy would only be active until I turn 70. I decided against engaging with him further, firmly believing it was a scam. The moment I expressed my suspicion, he abruptly hung up. Do we really need this kind of hassle in our everyday lives?

Got a call from an Asian guy who just flat out called me a liar when I said the person who owns this number had passed away. Honestly, some people are just downright clueless. They really need to find a decent job instead of wasting everyone’s time.

Got a call from some bloke who clearly couldn’t say my last name right, telling me my pension needed checking. I already get yearly updates from the company that handles my pension, so I knew something was off. Proper scam call, total waste of time.

This number kept ringing me non-stop with automated calls. Once I picked up, it went straight to some call centre reading from a script. I didn't bother staying on, just ended the call and blocked them right away.
