Lately, I get calls from these folks every single day. I never bother returning the call since the number isn’t one I know at all. I let the answering machine pick up and sometimes there’s just silence on the other end. If you listen closely, you can hear faint background chatter like people talking in some sort of office or call centre. Honestly, it’s a pointless 1571 message.

I just had a ring from this bloke everyone seems to be talking about.

Having worked in telesales myself, I can spot the usual dodgy tactics. He’ll mostly throw open-ended questions at you but won’t actually know anything about you!

You can easily say things like “I’ve no Orange broadband” even if you do, or “I’ve never been employed by M&S”.

That’ll probably throw him off balance and he might start stumbling over his words.

Try asking for his name, and if he refuses to tell you, just tell him you’ll report the number to the police or directly to Orange.

Hopefully, that’ll shut him down - what a right pain!

these spam calls just won't quit ringing, they really need to be stopped ASAP!

Every day, sometimes even twice, I get calls from this number. I don’t pick up and hang up straight away, but they keep calling anyway. It’s really getting on my nerves, and I guess loads of others around here are dealing with the same hassle.

This number kept ringing every evening after 6pm, so I’ve blocked it now. It just makes one ring then cuts off, but it happens daily. I’ve seen that others have reported it too for scam and annoying calls.

Today I got a call from 01482 489747, which I know is a Hull area code. The caller didn’t say anything about Orange, but kept asking about my job at M&S - which is odd because I’ve never worked there! Don’t give them any info. I looked up a few sites and loads of people reckon it’s an Orange telesales scam. I rang Orange customer support and they said they’ll investigate. Apparently this muppet isn’t connected to them at all and is even making customers lose trust because of his pushiness.

Got a call from a guy claiming he was ringing from a call centre in Hull for Orange Broadband, or EE as they’re calling themselves now. He was pushing some "better deal" than the one I already have. But after looking it over, the offer was actually worse, so I told him no thanks. Then he told me my current contract would be scrapped in January, so I’d have no choice but to switch to their new plan! Makes me wonder if “contract” only counts when big companies want to change the terms or force you to pay a cancellation fee? Seems like it’s never a fair deal for us customers!

This number has rung me loads and says they’re from Orange. They’re always looking for the last person who paid the bill but won’t listen when I tell them to stop asking. Also, they refuse to send anything through the post because I don’t deal with things that way. Bit annoying really!
