I’ve been receiving calls from them incessantly for several days, yet I’ve chosen not to pick up. They even left a voicemail by mistake, which I happened to listen to. It was a right old giggle on the other end, where they seemed to be having a laugh about the folks they were speaking to. It appeared to revolve around matters concerning National Insurance numbers. Extremely dodgy behaviour! I received a call purporting to be from BT, claiming to be situated in Hull. They were after my National Insurance number, but I had a strong suspicion it was a con and refused to provide it. They claimed they could offer a more affordable package for my broadband and landline services. I’ve since blocked the number and even reached out to BT directly; turns out they hadn’t tried to contact me at all. Stay vigilant, folks!

The caller said they were from BT and already knew my last name, then asked me to verify my first name. I refused and the call was cut off. These calls seem real but watch out for fraudsters pretending to use legit numbers. BE VERY CAUTIOUS ABOUT WHAT YOU AGREE TO. Honestly, probably best to avoid. We should all push to end crooks faking (copying) real UK business phone numbers from all over the world. Reach out to your MP, tell them about this issue, and ask what Parliament is doing to make phone companies use tech that blocks these fake calls. The US is already rolling out caller ID verification to fight these scams. You can find how to contact your MP on the UK Parliament’s website.

I haven’t picked up, but from seeing what others said and the fact I was just on uswitch looking at changing my broadband, noticed the BT deal, I reckon it’s connected. Got a text saying they saved my search and would call me back! Not hard to block if you’re not in the mood for it.

Havent picked up, but these lot have been ringing me about 3 or 4 times daily for the past few days. They never bother to leave a voicemail, which makes me think its either pointless or some kind of scam. I’ve just blocked the number, so not worried about it anymore. 👍

Got a call around 11:25 from a friendly woman with a northern accent sayin she was ringing from Hull about something on the BT website I looked at yesterday. Everything sounded legit and made sense.

Around 9.20 this morning I answered the phone, some woman said she was from BT in Hull and told me my contract was ending soon. I just said goodbye and hung up. She even used my last name, which is crazy since we’re ex-directory.
