I’ve had calls from this number about renewing a business electricity contract with British Gas. Before, I got an email from someone called Julie M, which had a different BG number, 0330 100 0536, not 01482293962. They didn’t leave a voicemail, but when I rang back, it went through to someone who sounded like a genuine BG rep. They just confirmed my details and said Julie would get back to me. So I’m pretty sure it’s legit, I’ll wait for the callback and might update my review from Neutral to Safe then.

Spoke to someone from British Gas Business, seems like a few of their employees are doing remote work, and the number seems to be connected somewhere local. I gave them all the info only British Gas could have. They also sent me an email which was from a genuine British Gas email address, so I’m pretty sure it’s legit.

Without a doubt, it was British Gas Business. I went through the usual data protection stuff (which is all public info, so I went along with it) and then asked the chap to prove he knew stuff only British Gas would have. He even sent me an email from their legit email address. Got my renewal sorted with no hassle, and the guy I spoke to was proper polite and helpful.

They didn’t leave any voicemail, so it probably wasn’t urgent. I reckon it’s linked to a call I got recently from someone saying they were British Gas. When I rang British Gas to check if the call was legit, they told me it was a scam, likely just a broker trying to hustle. My current contract for my business doesn’t end until September 2022, so it’s too early for any genuine company to be trying to solicit my business.

Sure looked like British Gas Business to me, I asked the bloke straight up why the number didnt show as British Gas on google, he said he was working from home. I just checked the business address, he seemed to know all the other stuff. Got all the emails and paperwork as well, so sounded legit.

Someone said they were from British Gas and had details about my account. I told them I hadn’t asked for any call and said nicely this was just harassment. Then he goes on that I probably get loads of calls like his from other companies. I agreed, said they’re all a pain and told him to take my number off their list, cos this kinda thing counts as harassment over here. I’ve blocked the number now.

They were trying to get my account details to bypass security at British Gas. This happened at our company just last week and since then, we’ve put extra security alerts on all our accounts. According to British Gas, these scammers want to cancel our contracts and switch suppliers so they get a commission. Definitely don’t share any info with them!
