They gave me a number with an Ipswich area code to call for help. The caller pretended to be from Microsoft, but when I talked to him, he sounded Asian and said he was actually based in LA. He offered to fix my computer but insisted I buy some malware protection from him for £180 and pay by card. Something didn’t sit right, so I cut off the call. I went ahead and turned my computer off and on again anyway, ignoring their threats.
