This is a REAL market research firm. They call for different businesses based on who has hired them at the time. Some of the reviews here are quite funny! Loads of people moaning about scams and TPS. Legit market research companies are allowed to phone numbers on the TPS list since they’re not selling anything (you can double-check on the TPS site). They won’t ever request your private info and you can just say no to any questions you don’t wanna answer. Please don’t paint all call centres with the same negative brush!

Got a call asking for someone who used to live here over a decade ago, definitely someone I’d rather not be reminded of. Sounded like it was from a call centre, most likely a scam. Not very helpful, to say the least.

I get that they do research, but once I say no and tell them I’m busy, that should be the end of it. There’s no need to keep ringing back over and over for the same thing. It’s really frustrating, and if someone says no, they really mean no!

TeamSearch is a proper market research firm hired by various brands to carry out surveys for them. I’ve dealt with them myself when they were gathering feedback about ParcelForce, which I use. They were quite pleasant and the survey wasn’t too time-consuming.

Got a call today, 23rd July at 4.17pm, claiming to be from Halifax about updates to my current account. They sounded fairly convincing but I wasn’t sure, so I just said I was busy at work and ended the call.

Said she was from BT, but seemed very unlikely to be the real deal - maybe working for them but not directly. A really polite young lady rang saying she wanted me to complete some 45 MINUTE BT survey. I told her I was busy at work and that the BT account is actually my company’s, not mine personally. She said it was about the company account and I’d get £75 or a charity donation for joining in. Bit strange - best steer clear.

It’s just a market research firm, definitely not a scam. They carry out surveys for other businesses and get their contacts from lists or directly from the companies. There’s nothing illegal about them calling you, and if you’re not interested in taking part, you can simply tell them. They’re usually quite polite. I’ve taken a few surveys with them myself and it’s all been perfectly ok, nothing to worry about. They’re just gathering opinions, not trying to steal your personal info.

I got a call today about some research for Microsoft, but it was for my kid to help with voice recognition. I thought it was a really good chance to be part of something that might improve software for kids down the line. The guy on the phone was really nice and even gave me an email and the number for the call centre, just in case I wanted to verify things or had more questions :)

They claimed they were doing a survey for Lloyd’s Bank about overdrafts. Said their company was 2020 Research and gave me this number 01226 767120 to confirm they’re real. When I asked where they were located, they just replied “you don’t need to know that.” Proper rude, so I’m just going to block them.

Some company rang me saying they were from Santander Mortgages. They had my full name and even mentioned I had a mortgage with Santander, which freaked me out a bit. What’s odd is I’d only just been speaking to Santander about renewing my mortgage, so I’m really puzzled how they got hold of that info!

Someone rang saying they were from Gusto working with Scottish Widows. They gave me a Scottish Widows number to call back, but when I phoned, they hadn’t heard anything about it. Plus, they said I’d get £10 in M&S vouchers if I answered their questions. Bit fishy if you ask me!

Got a call today at 12:13 from a woman with a Northern accent. She said she was ringing from OFWAT about my water company. When I asked how she got my number, she dodged it - strange as I only just changed it and hardly ever use the landline. I declined any survey, said thanks, and ended the call. dodgy call. said they were from ofwat checking if we were happy with our water company but when i said no to their questions, they just hung up on me offhand. i’ll be letting ofwat know about this first thing tomorrow. if this number is linked to other groups too (like others have said) then it’s obviously a scam trying to get info or something worse.
