They say they’re Verso and claim to be based at 981 Great West Road, Brentwood - TW8 9DN. But the calls get redirected to Asia, and they’re using dodgy phone lists from all the major UK mobile networks like EE, Vodafone, Three, BT, Virgin and so on. Don’t bother calling them back or answering their calls - they’re straight up breaking the law by using fake info. Keep clear of these lot.

No clue who called, the number’s not familiar and the area code says Alton ??? No one I know from there, so I just blocked it. Now I’ve got over 500 numbers blocked on my phone. The trouble is, these call centres keep switching their caller ID to dodge blocks. So, this caller got my details wrong, using my previous name and address from like a decade back. They called about my utilities, claiming it was just a quick check and no sales pitch involved. I mentioned that GDPR laws mean they shouldn't be using old info when I’ve clearly updated my name and place. After that, she just ended the call on me. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

When I pick up these sort of calls, I usually pretend to be from the 'Customer Service team at Scottish Widows Insurance' or say something like 'Financial Conduct Authority Scam Prevention Unit, how may I assist you today?' in a really serious tone. It seems to catch them off guard because they pause, then try to ask for me by name - which they never quite get right. I then tell them 'You've reached the out-of-hours mobile line for XYZ support. Are you calling to report fraud, make a claim, or get info about your policy?' Usually, they just get all muddled up and end the call pretty quickly.
