Got a call from an Asian guy saying he needed to give me a cheque for some sort of personal injury from a crash, saying I was the driver. Then he put me through to a woman, also with an Asian accent but speaking better English. She insisted I’d been in a crash and that a cheque had to be sent out. Said it was info from my insurance, supposedly from some third party. Didn’t trust it at all, so I just hung up.

Most of the time, they kick off by saying they’ve been told I was in a crash with a vehicle linked to me, supposedly from the Road Traffic Accident office. I tend to ask them how exactly they found out and what kind of accident it was. Occasionally, they’ll give a few extra details, but quite often, they just say they got the info from the RTA department without much else.

When I picked up, there was this weird click like a VoIP thing (maybe Skype). A man called me out by my full name, but the moment I asked where they got it from, they just hung up. I’m on the TPS list, but since they didn’t say who they were, not sure if I can do much. Definitely sounded like a scam, just not sure what kind. Since it's a landline and calls come out of my mobile package, I tried ringing back a few times. Every time I called, they hung up after different lengths, so I reckon someone was actually on the other end. No voicemail or anything useful to ID them though.

Got a call from someone saying they were with my insurance about a claim I'm sorting out right now. They threw around some names of agencies that sounded professional, but since I work in insurance myself, I could tell they were bogus. Told them to send me a letter or email if they were legit, as they’d have my contact info that way. Ended up just hanging up before they even had a chance to reply.
