Today, just about midday, I got a call from 01417373022. A lady on the other end was asking after a ‘Mr or Mrs’ with a surname that sounded like it’s got just one syllable. I couldn’t catch the name at all, so I asked her to say it again, but it remained unclear, only that it was a short surname. That was enough for me to mention that she’d dialled the wrong number because, firstly, there’s no married couple or men living here, and secondly, our last name definitely has two syllables. The woman sounded really sorry about the mix-up and was quite pleasant. Still, I’m clueless who exactly they were trying to reach.
