Phone number ☎️ 01414890692 👆 is reported as a persistent scam number associated with fraudulent calls claiming to offer refunds on non-existent washing machine warranties or appliance insurance. Callers, often with Indian or foreign accents, typically know the recipient’s name and address, aiming to extract bank account and sort code details under the guise of processing refunds. Many callers become aggressive or rude if challenged. Blocking the number is generally ineffective due to the use of multiple spoofed or fake numbers by scammers. I get a few calls every week from this number but they never bother leaving a message. I just don’t pick up if I don’t recognise the number.

The phone buzzed just one time, which straight away told me it was probably some sort of scam. They never bother leaving a voicemail either. Since I use call guardian, it blocks calls not saved in my contacts. After seeing what others have said here, I’ve gone ahead and marked the number as risky.

Got a call from someone asking for my bank info to give me a refund, sounded really pushy and suspicious!

I received a call from a chap with an Indian accent, who claimed my internet had switched from a private to a public connection. He was intent on guiding me through some steps on my computer. Strangely, he had my name and address to hand and asserted he was from BT. I was having none of it, doubted his credibility entirely, and ended the conversation. Following that, I got in touch with BT directly, and they assured me it was indeed a scam.

I recently received a rather dodgy call claiming I was entitled to a refund of £119 from something called the Homecare Refund Team. To start with, they couldn't specify which appliance it was linked to, and I have no active warranties on anything! After a bit of back and forth, they mentioned it was for the washing machine, but they couldn’t even provide any details about the brand. When I expressed my suspicions about it being a scam, they abruptly hung up. Quite suspicious, isn't it?

Someone called claiming to be with BT Openreach, telling me that our network was set to public when it should be private and asked me to verify the IP address. It felt dodgy right from the start, so I just ended the call.

I received a call from an 0121 number initially, but then they rang back from this 0141 number after I ended the first call. They mistakenly asked for someone by the wrong name. When I requested a number to return their call, they abruptly hung up on me.

I've got TrueCall and when it rang, they suddenly just dropped the call while screening. I tried calling them back but blocked my number first. Then this recorded message came on saying something about the Telephone Preference Service or some official-sounding thing, lol. That was the moment I decided to end it!

I got two calls recently, one from this number and another that only differed with an 89 at the end. Neither time did they leave a voicemail. Saw that others have tagged it as some sort of phishing or scam.

Got a call from 01414890692 earlier and the person on the line had a foreign accent. They were saying I'd paid too much on my water bill. The moment they started asking for my bank details, I realised it wasn't legit and hung up straight away.

This bloke said he was from Homserve's refunds team, but it was clear nonsense since we don't have anything to do with them. I told him to "get a proper job", and when he had the cheek to call back, I just hung up on him. Total scam, no doubt about it.

This morning at precisely 9:27, I got a call regarding some supposed refund for my electrical items. I made it clear that I wasn't interested and that I'd be reporting the number. Interestingly enough, I had a similar call last Thursday, the 5th, and I told the person on the other end to stop contacting me!

I received a call from a gentleman whose accent suggested he was Indian. Strangely, he already knew my name. When I inquired about his identity, he merely mentioned he was ‘Gavin’ and spoke of a refund. I didn't bother to find out the specifics, as I had a feeling it was all a bit dodgy. So, I told him it was nonsense and hung up without a second thought.

They called about some warranty for my washing machine, but I told them I don’t even own one. Then out of the blue, they said I could get £192 back as a refund. Got on my nerves when they kept calling me “Mrs,” so I told them that’s what people call married women. Then they hit me with, “Oh, you’re not married?” Smh.

So around 7:41pm on the 6th of May, I got a call from a guy with an accent I couldn't place. He kept asking if I was the person he named. I asked him who he was, but he just kept repeating the question. Then there was a bit of silence before he suddenly shouted "F*** Off, F*** Off" and slammed the phone down. Pretty obvious to me he got annoyed once he saw I wasn't falling for whatever scam he had planned!

Got a call from a bloke claiming I could get a refund on a washing machine I bought ages back. He said he was from the sales team of the washing machine brand, but I actually got mine from a local shop, not directly from them. I said no thanks to the refund, then suddenly they offered to donate the money to a charity I liked and asked for my name. I didn't bother giving it out.

Definitely sounded like a call centre ringin’ me up. I told the caller I wasn’t the person they wanted and mentioned the ATM was shut, then they just ended the call. Since I’m on the TPS list and my number’s ex-directory, I’m pretty sure this was some sort of scam.

I came across a firm named Home Care, and having seen your posts, I’m rather pleased that I chose not to take their word for it. They also alluded to a reimbursement for a warranty I’ve apparently overpaid.

Got a call about some refund, but couldn't make out what the caller was sayin’ because of the strong Indian accent. Felt like a scam to me.

I usually have my ansaphone switched on, so I’m not sure exactly what they say. Every time these scam callers ring, they cut off right before my message finishes. This same number has been calling for the past couple of days and before that too.

This number rang me a couple of times today but when I picked up, there was just silence on the other end. Pretty annoying!

This is a total refund scam, they really should be shut down and banned from operating.

Got a call earlier claiming they represented some home appliance company and that I’d been charged £190 too much for my warranty. I told them several times that I don’t even have an extended warranty, but they kept pushing saying they had a refund waiting and just needed my info to sort it out. As soon as I mentioned I’d report them for scamming, they cut the call straight away.

Got a call saying I could get £169 back on a washing machine warranty I don’t even own. Total scam, anyone with half a brain wouldn’t be fooled by this greedy nonsense.

I received a call from someone who claimed I had asked about getting replacement double glazing. They wanted to know what exactly I required and assured me they could beat any price I might have received from other companies.

I received a call from an Asian gentleman who seemed to know my name but didn’t bother answering when I inquired about where he was phoning from or how he obtained my number. He abruptly ended the call. Sounds dodgy to me!

It sounds remarkably similar to what I experienced before. My voicemail seemed to record some office chatter until it eventually got disconnected.

Got a call about some washing machine refund at 9pm. Seriously, how do they get away with ringing at that time when you’re meant to be on the TPS? These call centres from Calcutta keep bombarding UK numbers nonstop. Really frustrating!

Got a call from a woman speaking with a foreign accent, claimed I was owed a refund because I got overcharged on a warranty. I asked which company the warranty was through and she said something like Homecare Insurance, mentioning they work with loads of different companies. When I told her I never bought any warranty at all (I was pretty sure it was a scam), she just cut the call straight away.

For sure one of those scam calls. They said they were checking up on a refund because I got overcharged on my washing machine insurance. When I asked who they were with, all they said was some homecare company. I just ended the call straight away, but I’m sure they would’ve tried to get my bank info next.

No one said a word when I answered, so I guess it was probably a scam call.

I saw those 3 posts telling folks how to report and maybe shut down these scam calls and texts that keep haunting us. They were pretty much the same as ones posted on here just yesterday. Makes me wonder how many actually gave a toss? Complaining won’t help unless people really step up and take action.

Got a call from some bloke claiming I was due a refund on a washing machine warranty I never even bought. He knew my name and where I live, which was a bit creepy. When I asked if he could just post me a cheque, he kept pushing for my bank info. Told him straight I don't have any washing machine warranty, and suddenly he started saying I was wasting his time. Proper dodgy if you ask me.

Got a call from Jenny at Home Care, claiming I was entitled to a £190 refund for my washing machine. Immediately thought it was dodgy and told her I knew it was a scam and a cold call. But she kept saying the refund was already processed and all she needed was the long number from my cheque book to send it through. She assured me it wasn’t a scam because she didn’t want my card details or expiry date. I told her I’d wait for an email and call back instead, but she kept trying to convince me it was legit. After a while, I just ended the call. Still no email in my inbox!

Got a call from someone saying I was owed money back on a washing machine warranty. Thing is, I never got one in the first place! They asked which bank account to send the refund to. I told them I didn’t claim any warranty or want any refund, and then they just ended the call. Bit weird if you ask me.

Got a call from a guy who said his name was 'Peter', but had a really thick accent that sounded like he was from somewhere in the Indian subcontinent. It took him ages to get the chat going, probably because of some robo-dialer thingy and maybe he was checking if my name was on his list or something? When I questioned him about being 'Peter', I flat out told him I knew it was some kind of scam. Ended up blocking the number straight away.

These guys just keep going, really persistent or maybe they just don’t know what they’re doing. This time it was a woman called Annie, spoke with an Asian accent. It felt like a repeat of what happened earlier today. They were talking about a refund for a washing machine warranty, asking for £119, exactly the same amount. I told her I wanted it paid in pennies, not into a bank account, which seemed to confuse her completely.

Got a call from this number, some bloke with dodgy English who said his name was James. He told me I was owed a £119 refund from a washing machine warranty back in 2020. Then he put me through to someone else who asked for my address and tried to get me to share the sort code and account number to sort the refund. I told them straight up no way am I giving my banking info. They just hung up on me! Pretty obvious scam, but I wanted to see what they were trying to pull.

Absolutely dodgy. A complete con. They claimed it was regarding a refund for an appliance but insisted they required my account details to process the transfer. Apparently, mailing it wasn’t an option. The voice sounded quite familiar, complete with a thick Indian accent. Whatever you do, don’t divulge any personal information. Make sure to report this crook!

Somebody rang me up and seemed to know about my old agreement for home appliance insurance, saying they wanted to sort me out with a refund. They had my name, address and phone number, which freaked me out as I have no clue how they got hold of my info from D and G. There were 3 comments yesterday all showing how to report and eventually block these annoying scam calls and texts that keep coming through. They all looked pretty much the same. I wonder how many actually took any notice? It’s no use just whining about these calls if no one tries to do anything about it themselves. Everyone needs to pitch in, really.
