Got a call from a Glasgow number but the bloke started asking weird stuff he had no right to. Since when do they do health checks on your internet connection? Bit dodgy if you ask me.

Received a call purporting to be from BT

We’d previously alerted BT regarding a loose overhead cable in the garden of our neighbour. The woman on the other end mentioned she was inquiring about their internet connection... However, they don’t possess a computer, so I confronted her, suggesting it seemed to be a dubious call. She insisted it was genuine, yet within moments, she abruptly terminated the conversation by hanging up!

Someone rang claiming to be from BT. They passed me over to a “supervisor” who had me visit three different websites to check some error codes linked to my IP address. Then they gave me a security code to enter on a separate site. After that, they asked me to open a file they said I had to run. I refused and ended the call. But when I checked, the executable was already saved in my downloads folder - seems the security code I entered triggered the download. I made sure to delete that file straight away. Blocked their number and haven’t had any trouble since.

Somebody rang saying they were from BT, wanted to chat about my internet. I mentioned the boss wasn’t around and they just ended the call.

I received a call from +440141 471 6247. The person on the line had an American accent and claimed to be from HMRC, warning me of impending legal action. I seriously advise you to disregard this automated message. Whatever you do, don’t engage with them - it could end up costing you a small fortune. It's clearly a scam!

The phone buzzed just a handful of times then stopped - I had no clue who it was since the number seemed random. I’ve not been expecting any calls or left any requests for callbacks recently, so I decided not to pick up. After checking the number online and reading what other people said, I’m definitely steering clear of answering next time.

I received a pre-recorded message from someone with a foreign accent claiming to be from HMRC. They said that their letter had bounced back and that they would be initiating legal action against me. I've promptly blocked the number!

Got a robotic voice from China saying my parcel couldn’t be delivered and might get destroyed soon, but they didn’t say much else. Quite vague really.
