Someone rang me pretending to be from the Aftercare department of the Motor Insurers Bureau. It’s clear MIB knows about this kind of scam because on their website they offer tips on how to spot it: https://www.mib.org.uk/12029.aspx. They also ask people to report these dodgy calls through a form available there.

I received a call from this number not long ago and I picked up because I was waiting for a call from somewhere near Glasgow. They said they wanted to speak to a Robert Norman? When I asked who they were, they wouldn’t say, just told me they’d report it to the insurance company since it was a wrong number. I tried calling them back but the line didn’t even ring.
