So this number 01412551839 rang me up and the person on the line wanted to speak to my missus. I said she wasn’t here, and before I could ask anything else, they just hung up. On Saturday the 23rd of October 2021, I received a call about loft insulation. The caller started by checking if they had my correct address, then asked if I lived in a private home. After that, they wanted to know my age. That’s when I realised it was a scam. Never share your age with them - they can use it to target you with more scams, especially if you’re older. I told them straight up this was a scam and to not ring me again. I’ve since blocked that number on my mobile, so thankfully they can’t get through to my landline, as I have a true call machine on that.

Some bloke called saying he was from a government scheme about loft insulation. When I told him I already had insulation, he started asking loads of questions - like what age group I’m in, what kind of house I live in, even my postcode and address. Then he said someone would come round to check the insulation. I told him I wasn’t interested and was happy as it was. Suddenly, he got really annoyed and started going on about condensation, health issues and the environment before just hanging up on me. Honestly, don’t bother picking up calls like that.

I received a call from what I assumed was a company handling accident claims. They insisted that I ought to claim for a mishap that occurred two months prior. When I inquired about the driver involved, they claimed it was me, despite the fact that I wasn’t to blame. That’s when the penny dropped, and I realised they were nothing but fraudsters, especially since I haven’t owned a car since early April. I confronted the chap, telling him he was part of a scam, but he asserted that they were legitimate. I cheekily pointed out that he had just called me on the police fraud hotline. Oh, the look on his face as he hung up in a hurry was absolutely priceless! 😂😂
