I just had a phone call from a chap with an Indian accent named Michael, who informed me that my washing machine warranty with Domestic & General is nearing its expiration. He was offering an enticing 50% discount if I acted immediately. When I mentioned that I'm not one to make purchases over the phone, I requested that he send me the usual reminder letter that I receive annually. He agreed but warned that it would take a week, which would mean I’d miss out on the discount. So, I then asked him if he could send me an email - surely that’s doable, right? He replied, 'Yes, sir, we'll sort that out.' And that was the end of the conversation. What really puzzles me is how on earth they managed to obtain my personal information!

Everyone should ring up their providers and demand they rotate our landline numbers every week; that'd soon put an end to these pest calls. Seriously, why's the police fraud unit not cracking down on these crooks? I’ve been getting the same washing machine and loft insulation scams for over two years now!

I wasn’t sure who was calling and didn’t answer it in the end. Afterwards, I looked up the number on this site and I gotta say, thanks to everyone who shared their experiences. It’s really useful to know this was just another scam call.

I called Domestic and General about a warranty for our washing machine, and they basically told me we didn’t qualify because apparently we’re too skint. Felt really rude, like they just didn’t want to help at all. Proper disappointed!

I keep getting calls from someone called "Simon" who says he's from Domestic and General. I've asked them nicely via email to quit ringing me, but it’s like they’re ignoring me completely. Really annoying!

Got two calls in less than an hour. Managed to bypass my call blocker. Theyre now on my blocked numbers.

I picked up the phone and after a bit of silence, it sounded like a call centre on the other end. Then a man with an Asian accent began speaking, so I just ended the call.

For months now, I’ve been getting calls nearly every day about insurance for my old washing machine, saying it needs renewing. It's a 15 year old machine, so obviously it’s a bit ridiculous. Tried blocking the numbers but they keep ringing from new ones. Proper annoying scam this is.
