Dodgy character alert! I got a call from someone claiming to be from my mobile network, offering an enticing 50% off my bill. All I had to do was provide a code that supposedly would arrive via text. Once I challenged him, he just chuckled menacingly, boasting that there was no chance I’d track him down before abruptly ending the call. Whatever you do, don’t share that code!

I received a rather dubious call yesterday from a chap claiming to represent O2. He mentioned that since I’m nearing the end of my contract-indeed, that's accurate-I was eligible for a 'brand new' iPhone 13 along with a 50% discount on my monthly bill as a gesture of appreciation for my loyalty. Strangely, he seemed to know every single detail about my account! Despite his offers, I made it clear that I had no interest in the upgrade. To my surprise, he insisted that as a token of goodwill, he would be sending me a complimentary Apple Watch to thank me for my continuous support of O2! He then sent through a text with a six-digit code, which he requested I provide him so he could activate this ‘gift’. Considering he had all my personal information, I thought it was legit and foolishly shared the numbers. What a blunder that turned out to be! After a short while, something began to feel off, and my instincts prompted me to reach out to O2 directly. It was then that I found out this was all a ruse; the caller was, in fact, a scam artist. By giving him those six digits, he had managed to activate my account-leading to that iPhone 13 being dispatched to me. I immediately informed O2 that I was a victim of this scam and requested that no delivery be sent, as I had no wish to receive the phone. They assured me it would be blocked and that their Fraud Team would look into it. However, upon checking my account today, I was dismayed to learn that O2 hadn’t communicated properly with their Sales and Dispatch teams, and the phone was already en route! I rang the Fraud department again, only to be told I must refuse the delivery. Accepting it would imply my consent to the new contract, and to add another layer of trouble, they warned me that the scammers would likely contact me shortly after the delivery, claiming it had been sent to the wrong address and requesting I return it to them-right into their waiting hands! The situation has worsened as my account is now reflecting charges for this new device, and I’m grappling with getting O2 to rectify the mess without much progress as of yet. I’ve even been advised to contact the police now! Apologies for the lengthy tale, but I felt it vital to alert others about this crafty scam! Stay vigilant, folks!

Picked up the phone but it was silent on the other end.

Some bloke answered and said his name was Jesus, started going on about forgiveness or whatever, then just hung up on me. Now my place is full of frogs, definitely smells like a scam to me.

I picked up and all I could hear was this weird, distorted noise like someone from another planet trying to talk through a dodgy phone connection. When I told the person I couldn’t make out what they were saying, they just hung up straight away.

I picked up but no one said a word back to me.

Got a missed call, and it seemed a bit dodgy since I got a call from the same number (01369 400018) a few days ago on 27th April... didn’t pick up that one either.

I've received a couple of calls from this number already. My caller ID seems to be having a bit of a meltdown, as it doesn't allow me to pick up. I have a strong suspicion it's just some sort of scam.

I returned the call and received a message in American English from E-Core Host.

The phone rang briefly and then was abruptly disconnected.

Unsolicited nuisance call - I've added it to my blocked numbers list.

I saw a phone number I didn’t recognise but I just let it ring out since they didn’t bother leaving a message.

I returned the call and was greeted by an automated message delivered in American English.

I received a call from this number linked to Dunoon, inquiring whether I'd be interested in acquiring a new mobile phone. The caller had a foreign accent that seemed to be of Asian origin. She claimed to represent the 3 network and expressed her desire to dispatch a SIM card my way, despite my informing her that I already possessed a phone.

I got a call from someone saying they were part of 'switch experts' trying to sell me a deal on a new iPhone. They insisted they worked with phone companies, but it all felt really dodgy. Definitely seemed like a scam to me.

They called me three times all within just a minute, it was pretty annoying.

I got a call from this number but nobody said anything, just loads of noise in the background. Then they just ended the call straight away.

All day ive been getting calls from numbers starting with 02045204 1 something, plus this one just rang too. Every time my phone says "potential fraud" and none of them left a message. I havent answered any, but im pretty sure its some kind of scam.

Got a missed call from this number and tried looking it up online, but came up blank. Not really sure what it is, but it kinda seems like it's a call centre. Anyone had any dealings with it or knows what it's about?

I couldn’t track down any reviews or reports about this number anywhere else online, so that’s probably a positive thing. Has anyone else come across it before? I tried entering the number in several different ways but still no results. Seems like I’m not alone - quite a few people seem to be looking it up judging by some sites I checked out. Does anyone have any clue who’s behind these calls?
