A few weeks back, I got a strange call that sort of followed this pattern - they kept mentioning £600 and told me to press 1. I ignored that instruction and instead phoned my credit card provider on a different phone. They confirmed there was nothing wrong. What struck me was that the caller claimed to be from MBNA, a company I do bank with, although only occasionally, maybe once every couple of months. Funny enough, I’d just used that card only hours before the call came through.

Got a call saying they were from VISA about a charge of around £600 someone tried to put through in the States. Seemed a bit fishy, like they wanted to check if it was me or not. Didn't really trust it so I hung up just to be safe.

I received a call earlier from an Indian call centre. They claimed that my BT line had been compromised. Honestly, it sounds completely implausible! Definitely a scam!

Someone with a Chinese accent called me claiming to be from BT, saying he could fix my internet issues. I mentioned I was actually with Virgin, but he insisted he could help if I switched on my computer. I told him to buzz off, ended the call, and reported it to the fraud team. Don’t fall for this rubbish scam.

This morning my brother got a call from someone claiming to be from BT Openworld. They said they could repair his computer for just £2.90, but when he asked his credit card provider later, he discovered he'd been billed £241.99. I'd recommend not answering calls from this number at all.

Got a call today from someone claiming to be with BT, but they had a weird American accent! Also, there was a noticeable pause before they spoke, so I knew it wasn’t a local call. This bloke said he wanted to talk about my broadband. I told him I don't even have broadband. Then he said he wasn’t a broadband provider, so I asked him why on earth I should be talking to him about broadband at all. Before I could say anything else, he just hung up! That’s a new one - usually, I ask them to take me off their list first before ending the call. Really dodgy stuff. :(

This number called me twice today. Some guy with an Indian accent saying he was from 'BT' and that there was an issue with my internet. I told him everything was fine, wished him a lovely day and said goodbye before hanging up. Then he called back asking why I ended the call! I just hung up again :D

Just got a call from a guy with an Indian accent who said his name was Martin Wilson and he was from Virgin Media. He claimed our internet was full of some sort of malware and said they were going to cut it off for like 4 to 6 months. I didn’t buy it for a second and ended the call straight away.

This 01363772407 number keeps ringing me non stop. They say they’re from BT Openreach, but I’m not sure if that’s true at all. Feels dodgy to me.

Got a call from this number earlier. A woman with an Indian accent was telling me my Windows PC had a virus and said since I’m a BT customer, she could help if I let her access my computer through BT internet. The funny part is, I use a Mac and my internet’s with Virgin! Very clever, but no thanks!

Got called twice by this number claiming there was a hacking issue on our account. They said they were from BT. The first caller got really short with us when we asked if they were legit. Both sounded like they had Indian accents.

Received a call from this number a bit ago, some woman with an Indian accent said she was from BT Openreach. She was going on about issues with my broadband, but we don’t even have BT as our provider! Told her that straight away and she started sounding all menacing and pushy. Ended the call pretty quick. Watch out for these fraudsters, they target older people in particular.

Some bloke rang me saying he was from BT OPEN REACH, telling me I'd been on dodgy sites. I just laughed and said, "You're one of those scammy types, right?" He replied with a thick Indian accent, "Ohh my god." I quickly ended the call and I’m definitely reporting this to the police.

Yesterday I got a call from a man with an Indian accent, and the second he said "hello madam," I just hung up straight away! Then today, the same number rang me again, saying there was a problem with my PC. When I asked if he was calling from India, he just cut the call immediately! Don’t be fooled when they say it isn’t a sales call and that they just want you to switch on your computer so they can fix it. Absolutely dodgy! From what I can tell, these lot are total SCAMMERS!!! Watch out!

Got a call from a woman with a Chinese accent claiming my computer had issues. She asked me to hit the ctrl + windows + r keys. I wasn’t having any of it and questioned her, then she just ended the call. Clearly a scam, better luck catching someone else!

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent who said he was from BT. Rang me on my work phone and said my computer had a virus problem they could sort out. I told him I don’t have a computer at all, so he tried saying maybe it’s a laptop then. Told him I don’t have one either ‘cos I’m skint, then he just hung up. Total scammer!

Got three calls from some dodgy people claiming they were from "BT" and "TalkTalk." Right away I knew it was a scam. So, I decided to have a bit of fun and started trying to sell them a washing machine with a great bargain, even mentioned chucking some kitchen gear through their window! They didn't take kindly to it and told me to buzz off before slamming down. Each time it was a different caller but all saying they were from the same firm. Honestly, don't fall for it!

Got a call earlier pretending to be from BT, but I don’t even use them for internet. The guy had a strong Indian accent and told me hackers were trying to break into my connection. I asked for details on the supposed issue and how he planned to fix it, but he just kept pushing me to switch on my laptop. I wasn’t having any of it and called him out as a scammer. What’s odd is I got a call midweek from someone who sounded like the same person, only this time they said they were from TalkTalk. Hopefully folks won’t fall for these dodgy scams.

On Saturday 14th May, I got a call from an Indian couple saying they were with BT. It seemed dodgy to me, so just a heads up - these might be scammers. Best thing to do is just hang up straight away and don’t get involved.

Got a call from this number earlier today around 9am but they didn’t leave a message. Then they rang back and I picked up. Some lady claimed she was from BT and said they'd been watching my computer for weeks because it had a virus. I told her straight up she was making it up. She lied back so I told her again to stop lying and that it was wrong to scam folks. She just kept telling me to “shut up” over and over, then cut me off. Proper rude!

I got a call from someone who said his name was David and claimed to be from BT. He said there was an issue with my BT Broadband. I told him I wasn’t sure about that and when he asked how I knew, I said BT never calls me and I don’t even have broadband. Then he just hung up. Right away I figured it was a scam because of the name David and his strong Indian accent.

I got a call like that too, same kind of story being told to loads of others. They spoke in a really bad mix of English and some foreign language. When I checked the link they sent, it was flagged as a malware site and my firewall stopped it. The person on the phone got really rude and hung up on me saying something like, 'okay, if you don't trust me then'.

Got three calls from them today, and they were swearing a lot. They kept saying someone had hacked my computer and kept telling me to "open this page" or "do this man". I told them I didn’t trust what they were saying and hung up. Then, I rang Plusnet since that’s my provider, and they checked my wifi - no issues at all. After that, I phoned BT just to be sure, and they said it was all rubbish. Seriously, don’t fall for it, it’s all a scam.

Here’s a useful trick - if you get a call out of the blue, just say you’re tied up watching something a bit naughty. It really annoys them once they catch on that you’re not falling for their spiel and they're not in control any more. Some might say it's a bit cheeky or borderline rude, but speaking as someone who studies people, this little move puts you back in charge and can scare off the timewasters. Imagine if everyone responded like this, calls from pushy marketers might eventually vanish. Cheers, Paul S from Letchworth, Herts.

I just got a phone call from a bloke called Albert who said he was with BT Openreach. He told me my computer was under attack and offered to fix it. I tried asking him some questions, but he couldn’t answer a single one properly. Then he started yelling at me when I refused to do what he wanted. If you ever get calls like this, seriously, don’t listen to them or follow any instructions - they’re just trying to hack into your computer.

Received a call from someone claiming my computer was infected with viruses and hackers were inside it. I asked for proof and they told me to open the Start menu and click on cmd or run. After struggling to find these options for about 10 minutes, I told them I use a Mac and work in cyber security with a Unix firewall protecting me, suggesting they might just be crooks. They ended up cutting the call pretty quickly.

I've been getting calls from this number, and the people on the other end have Indian accents, claiming they're from BT and telling me there's an issue with my petty said or whatever. Thing is, I don't even have one (though actually, I do), and as soon as I say something, they just hang up straight away. Definitely a scam, no doubt about it!

I usually let calls from numbers I don’t recognise go to voicemail, and if there’s something important they want to say, they’ll leave a message. This number rang but didn’t bother leaving anything, so I didn’t answer. Honestly, it’s no skin off my nose if they don’t leave a message.
