Now, I mess with them by saying they have to give the password we supposedly set up before I can connect them. It's actually a dodgy broker ringing both energy suppliers and customers, using info they've found online to make you believe they’re your actual supplier. They try to get your personal details, then call your real supplier pretending to be you and switch you to another energy company so they can pocket the commission. If you ever get a call from this number, make sure you contact your energy provider straight away and let them know what’s going on.

She mentioned something about our British Gas meter. I told her straight up that we don’t have gas; we run entirely on solar power. She kept pushing, insisting there was a gas meter linked to us. Then she claimed the gas meter was tied to an old address of ours, but that’s not where we live now. After I corrected her on that, she did say sorry and ended the call. Definitely came across like a call centre script.

Been getting loads of calls claiming to be from Octopus Energy, but they're definitely not. The phone line is rubbish and their English is pretty poor. They just keep going and won’t accept when I say no.

Got a call from 01316188226 claiming to be from Scottish Power, asking to talk to whoever handles our bills. I asked what it was regarding, and she went on about whether we'd got an invoice from July. I said no, then she started rattling off about June and May too. I joked, "Are you going to go through every month now?" She kept jabbering, so I told her to just send it by email. Of course, still nothing in my inbox. What a waste of time!

Got a call from someone pretending to be Eon, said they needed our meter number because it was "wrong on their system". I told them the only reason they didn’t have it was probably cause they were some dodgy call centre and then they just hung up. They rang me back like five times after that but I didn’t bother picking up anymore.

Received a couple of calls at work from someone saying they were EDF. They insisted on speaking directly with the finance team but wouldn’t accept an email or allow us to call them back. Felt a bit fishy to me.

Got a call supposedly from British Gas asking me to check my meter number and billing details, saying they wanted to confirm we’d got the bill. Thing is, we already use British Gas and always get our statements by email, so that was a red flag. I said I was ending the call, but she kept ringing back three times! Luckily, I was able to block the number - at least for now.

On 31st July 2025, I got a call from this number saying they were from British Gas Lite. But when I asked about details connected to our account, they had no clue. It felt dodgy, so I just ended the call.

They called saying they were from British Gas and told me there was a problem with our meter readings. I contacted British Gas myself to check, and everything was fine with our meters. Definitely a scam, best to ignore and block the number!

Got a call around 3 this afternoon from someone claiming to be from Octopus Energy. They wanted to check our address and tariff details, which was unsettling because they already had our invoice info and account number. When we asked if they were really from Octopus, they said yes straight away. Definitely feels like a scam to me.

I keep getting calls from this woman who’s really pushy about some gas meter problem and says our bills are all off. Nothing she said added up at all, felt like a total scam to me.

Got a call from someone acting like they were from my electricity company, trying to verify bits of my account. I figured I'd keep them chatting as long as I could so they wouldn’t be hassling anyone else. After about 12 minutes and me pretending not to get what they were saying for the 20th time, they snapped and told me to "go F*ck yourself, you idiot." Lovely lot! Seriously, don’t waste your time on these fraudsters.

Got a call from someone talking with an Indian accent, claiming to be from my electricity company. He kept pushing me to connect him to the accounts team because there was supposedly a problem with my bill. I asked him, “Who is my electricity provider then?” and the line just went dead straight away!! It’s definitely a scam trying to trick you into giving your bank info or card details!!

Total scam! I got a call supposedly from British Gas saying there was some mix up with another customer’s info and that I could end up getting billed extra. Then this woman asked me to give her my personal details. Absolutely dodgy!

Got a call from Scott at Great Energy on 01316 188226 asking about accounts. I asked him for the name of the person he was trying to reach. While he was figuring it out, I quickly searched the number and told him it seemed like a scam. He ended the call immediately after that.

I got a call from someone saying they were with YU Energy, but then they switched and said they were with Octopus and Smartest Energy too. Felt really dodgy, like some scam from India trying to phish info. What freaked me out most was how they knew all my energy account info already - no idea how they got that! Felt super sketchy, so watch out for this lot!
