This number has rung me loads of times. Since some of my relatives live in Edinburgh, I thought it might be them and answered once. Yep, they told me it was "Collins Morgan" on the line and mentioned some "new law in Scotland to help people struggling with debt repayments". Sounds dodgy to me, especially since they've been ringing me nearly every day for the last couple of weeks. I only picked up just now and still not convinced it’s legit.

Got called by someone saying I owed money and they definitely knew my name, but couldn’t give me any proper info about the debt. They spoke with a local Edinburgh accent, sounded quite official and were really confident about this Scottish debt management stuff. Seemed like they had a bit of clue about Scottish law and terms but I caught them out a few times with facts, so obviously a total con. The whole point was to get your bank details and personal info ‘to help you’ - yeah right! Don’t give them anything, not even your name or address. Just hang up and block the number straight away. It’s a fake debt management firm pretending to be legit from Scotland.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent saying I owed money on some debt. Thing is, I don’t owe a penny, and when I kept pressing him for details about this debt, he just wouldn’t say. Today I got three calls from this number. The first two times I picked up, no one spoke, they just hung up right away. On the third call, I said hello and stayed on the line for about 30 or 40 seconds before they finally hung up. During that time, I could overhear voices - it sounded like an Indian man and a woman chatting in the background. I tried ringing back but couldn’t get through at all. Even the BT operator couldn’t connect my call to that number and told me it doesn’t accept incoming calls from outside. She warned me to be careful, saying numbers like these are often connected to scammers, mainly from Indian or Russian groups working in the UK. When I mentioned the voices I heard, she agreed that it’s very likely a scam. Apparently, once they get your info, it’s almost impossible to reach them again. I reported the number to my local police, who said they will pass it on to the force up in Scotland where the line might be based. I live in Devon, and my number is ex-directory, so I’m not sure how they even got hold of it - probably sold on somewhere. I’ve now asked BT to change my number since I’m in the armed forces and want to stay safe. Caller: UNKNOWN, possibly a scammer.
