I picked up but then they just hung up on me.

Someone rang asking whether I use gas, coal or oil and said they offered cashbacks. They said they were from the RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) but I reckon they just want to push some equipment on you. They kept going on about it not being a cold call, only “unsolicited”, which to me sounds like the same thing. The guy sounded rude and not at all professional, best to just ignore it.

So this number rang me yesterday, asking if I was Mrs xxx. I told them I hadn’t gone by that name in nearly a decade and asked who they were and where they were calling from. Instead of answering, the bloke started berating me for being rude and abrupt, saying I had no right to be so unfriendly, and that it’s people like me who give call centres a bad rep! I found the whole thing pretty funny and asked again where he was based, but got no reply. I just ended the call then. They tried again this morning, but I’ve already blocked the number now.

This number rings me all the time. I answer but just stay quiet. After a short pause, it clicks and hangs up. Seems like they’re waiting for me to say something before they reply or a recorded message starts. I did 1471 and it showed the same number again. Proper annoyance. They really shouldn’t bother me considering we’re signed up with the TPS like everyone else.

Got a phone call from some bloke named James, who said he was with the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme and that we could get payments for air source heat pumps. I kept asking if they were a private firm and he insisted they were part of RHI itself. Turns out, after checking with the real RHI team, these guys have nothing to do with them. Plus, they rang from a number listed on the TPS, which is dodgy in itself.

I've been getting loads of calls about boiler inspections or something. Even after putting my number on the TPS, the calls just won't stop. I keep telling them to sod off, but they just keep ringing. Proper annoying!

Got a call from this number early afternoon so thought I’d pick up. Since it’s a Doncaster code and that’s not too far away from me, I figured it might be legit. But as soon as I said hello, all I got was silence on the other end, then a faint hello back. I said hello again and then they just cut the call. Definitely not answering if they call again.

I got a call from someone claiming they could save me money on my energy bills by using a new device that supposedly runs on oxygen instead of gas. Honestly, it sounded like a total con to me. Complete scam if you ask me.

Got a couple of calls from a number. They started with some music, then tried selling gas and energy plans. I told them there's no gas supply here as it's shut down around these parts, and that was the end of the call.

Just got another ring, this time from something called the energy advice centre - the other day it was the energy assessment centre or something similar. Complete scam artists. When I asked them about their company and website, they completely dodged the questions like they weren’t real. Honestly, no idea what their end game is. I was rushing to hang up as quick as possible! This ain’t a proper way to make money, seriously, find something better to do.

Got a call from someone claiming to be the EA centre. They wanted to check if I qualified for some sort of government cash to help with home upgrades that’d supposedly slash my heating bills to almost zero. Sure, like that’s ever true. I guess they reckon calling themselves EA, maybe short for Environmental Agency, makes the call sound legit or something.
