Some dodgy scammers tried to con me out of cash.

Energy Support Hub rang me offering a free boiler and cheaper gas bills from 01709 276991 initially, then from 01302 357989. They said they'd visit in a few weeks but promised to phone the day before. After seeing what others have said, I've decided to block both numbers.

This number called me offering a brand new boiler for free. At the time, I already had a British Gas engineer at my place who said it's just a scam or one of those cold calls. Don't fall for it!

They were quite impolite and at first wouldn't say where they were ringing from until I gave them my info.

I got a call from this advisor Rachel, she really knew her stuff and was trying to help me save some cash by organising a new boiler. The bloke who came over was proper nice and managed to cut down the costs, fitted a brand new boiler for me with a 10 year warranty too. Absolutely a win win, I’d definitely recommend them to anyone!

I rang back as they missed a call earlier. Got put through to a recorded message saying it was from some Energy Help centre, claiming they want to assist with my energy bills. I never asked for any help like that and don’t want any, so I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number. Doesn’t seem harmful, but it’s definitely just another annoying cold call.

Robocall - they wanted to chat with Mr or Mrs B.M. When I asked who was calling, they said it was the energy hub & wanted to talk to whoever owns the place. I had to tell them it’s a business, not a house. Total waste of time and breath.

They rang me both yesterday and the day before but I've only just got round to leaving a comment. I usually don't bother calling back numbers that don’t leave any sort of message, not even a quick annoyed word after hitting another voicemail. To me, that pretty much screams SCAMMERS.

Called back after missing a few calls - sounded like some energy helpline, but they never mentioned which firm or brand they were from on the voicemail (definitely not an energy comparison company). I've blocked the number now.

Just to add to what I said before; I live with my family and we’ve never had a boiler since moving here. So all these comments saying it’s useful just don’t make sense when they keep ringing people miles away who don’t even own a boiler. If it wasn’t a scam, they’d know exactly who they’re calling and wouldn’t bother those who have nothing to do with this rubbish. Those positive reviews sound like scammers tryna balance things out so they don’t get spotted. It’s just disgusting.

Automatic call system, it drops the call as soon as you pick up, but it’s kept ringing over the last few days. When I did answer once, it was some supposed energy saving "help" they were pushing. My number’s on the TPS list. I checked again today, it’s still on there, yet these annoying calls just keep coming. To those saying you gotta re-register with TPS every year, here’s what the TPS site says: If you’ve registered a home number or one tied to a sole trader or (except in Scotland) a partnership, there’s no need to sign up again.

Loads of good reviews popping up one after another can’t be just random, seems like they’re trying to mess with the info here so folks think it’s okay to call back. For me, I wouldn’t touch it, maybe not outright scammers but still a bit shady for sure.

It was the typical sales spiel for windows and doors, kept pushing for a sale even after I told her I was with the council. She just wouldn’t take no for an answer about whether I was interested in buying.

If they keep ringing and never bother to leave a voicemail but just hang up, I’ll keep calling them what they truly are - scammers. If they were legit, they’d leave a clear message every time they try to reach out, including their name, a direct contact number and some sort of employee ID (like a payroll number). Also, telling us the company name and a quick idea of what the business does would be much appreciated.

Yeah, same here, missed a call and decided to ring back after seeing these reviews. They seemed alright, nothing shady going on. I’m just not into what they offer but defo not a scam or anything dodgy.
7 years
I dont usually bother commenting, but some of the bad reviews here are just crazy. Why does every good review have to be doubted like its a lie? I’m curious how people say they got "scammed" and why others claiming it’s safe are apparently wrong. I’m from Doncaster and know this company, even a mate’s daughter is employed there. From what I’ve seen, they are a decent employer round here and provide a real service. Plus, if you ask them, they’ll delete your details and won’t ring you back again. Typical moaning from the negative crowd in the UK.

Loads of salespeople who couldn’t care less about TPS ringing about boilers. If they can’t get that TPS basically means "bugger off", would you feel safe having them fit a gas boiler? Also, quite a few comments saying "they’re actually lovely folks" - why on earth would someone pop here just to leave a nice message? Doesn’t add up, unless they’re trying to clean up their image or something.

This number and a few others have called me before claiming to give free energy tips and new boilers. I’m not planning to answer because from what I’ve seen in the comments, most are negative. The person was really nice and polite, called from the energy support centre. They wanted to know about my boiler age, said it was 7 years old but it was actually 6 and a half. I wasn’t keen on anything right then, they understood and suggested checking back in a couple of months. I agreed to that.

I picked up the phone and they just hung up straight away. However, free boilers do exist - I got one earlier this year myself. You obviously have to meet some requirements, like being on certain benefits. For me, I’m on disability benefits and my old boiler totally gave up, so I was provided with a brand new combi boiler at no cost. Just make sure you don’t deal with random cold calls; instead, call your energy provider directly and ask about the warm home scheme, which is a government-backed deal run alongside energy companies.

Got a call the other day and they actually knew my name! Not sure how they managed that since I’m on the TPS list. It’s really frustrating getting these calls out of the blue.

Honestly, I have no clue who keeps ringing me or where they found my number. Such a pain, I just ignore every call from them.

This bird named Charlotte was proper loud and full of herself. She acted like she was top dog, but even with me being a bit tipsy, she wouldn’t dare back me up. I bet she’s the type who gives her fella grief on a Saturday when he grabs her a half pint rather than a full one. What a drama queen.

Just block the number, seriously! Then imagine blasting them with dynamite, chuck ’em in boiling oil and toss whatever’s left on the fire. I’ve had enough of this nonsense for goodness sake!

Funny thing - my boiler’s gone kaput right now and this number rings me up. I’ll be getting in touch with my landlord about it.

I got a call from this place that offers advice on energy stuff, mainly helping people like me upgrade their boilers. The people on the phone were really nice and helpful. I definitely think it’s worth having a quick talk with their team, they know their stuff and made the whole process much easier for me. I was pretty happy with how they treated me and would suggest others give them a go too.
