Absolutely, they hail from South Africa and are contracted by a British firm. I can vouch for their authenticity as I received help from them, and my services were improved significantly. I've even posted my thoughts on Trustpilot, where they boast a commendable 4.3-star rating, outshining many other broadband providers. They operate under the name Unitel Direct Trading, also known as Unitel Telecoms.

When you get scam calls, the best thing to do is just end the call straight away without sharing any info. Don’t waste your time talking to them.

I recently received a rather alarming phone call from a woman who insisted I was on the verge of losing my telephone line, thanks to BT planning some fibre upgrade. She went on to say that if I didn't act swiftly, not only would I be cut off, but I might also lose my current phone number. Apparently, should I wish to switch to fibre at a later date, I'd be assigned an entirely new number instead. When I inquired about her company, she hesitated before revealing she was with Unitel Telecom, providing me with the number 01287 840 970. I told her I’d call back after reaching out to BT for confirmation. At that point, she agreed but hastily ended the conversation. Naturally, I did some digging and found out that this was simply a SCAM, so do exercise caution!

If anyone's on the fence about whether this is a dodgy operation, take a gander at the self-promoting rant penned by the fraudsters themselves-it’s as clear as day. They’re ringing from South Africa, mind you. Just block them and be done with it!

I can assure you this isn’t some sort of scam! I followed the procedure, and my internet connection has been upgraded. Previously, I was stuck on an ADSL line, but the engineers came round and set me up with fibre optics and VOIP phones. Absolutely chuffed with the new service-thank you! 😊

They called asking if I was aware of "the big switch off" and whether we have gone digital now. I just ended the call right there.

01287840970 Got a call from some telecom scammers trying to convince me to upgrade our landline to the "latest BT Openreach fibre" package or something. Problem is, we had that done ages back already. I just let her go on for a bit, then decided to cut the call.

It's a total telecom charlatan!
They were going on about how we’re about to lose our number and that some sort of upgrade was essential, typical nonsense!
I let them prattle on for a bit before I cut the call.
Just so you know, we had our line upgraded ages ago, and our number is as secure as ever!

Somebody rang me up saying it was about the telecoms changeover and warned we'd lose our business phone if we didn’t act. I told them I wasn’t bothered and hung up straight away. Even tho we’re on the TPS list, these annoying scammers still call us loads, often pretending to be from UK numbers but they’re actually overseas. It’s really frustrating. At the office, we get a handful of these calls every single day, and my mobile gets a few each week too.

Got a call claiming my phone was about to be cut off. I didn’t stick around to see if they’d ask for bank info. The voice had an Indian accent, so it might’ve been from abroad. Definitely felt like a scam.

Had a call from some telecom guy who was trying to convince me that with the digital switchover, I’d lose my landline number. Absolute rubbish! If your provider supports the service, just don’t deal with these dodgy companies. I told the bloke I’m retiring soon and had no plans to switch up my business phone, but he rang me again today. Asked straight for me by name, acted like he didn’t remember talking to me before, and then started spouting all this nonsense. Honestly, some of these people are the worst.

I received a rather tenacious call from someone purporting to be from BT, using the number 01287840970 that appeared on my screen. This individual was fishing for personal information under the guise of scheduling an engineer to upgrade our line to fibre. It's quite evident they weren't genuinely representing BT. Just to clarify, we operate as a computer repair business, and our setup relies entirely on FTTP. We don't even have any copper lines in our system!

I recently got a call regarding the complete phasing out of all BT's copper wire networks. When I mentioned that I'd have a chat with my service provider about it, they insisted providers wouldn’t be in the loop. I ended the call, and it was an Asian-sounding voice on the other end.

Got a call from an Indian woman, she was quite polite but never really mentioned her company or her name. She was talking about BT digital landlines and internet deals. I told her I already had both, but she didn’t seem bothered. Felt like one of those scam calls I’ve had before that sounded pretty similar.

I got a call on my mobile yesterday around 3.16 pm from this number 01287-840970. I didn’t pick up. I’m based near Brighton. From what I’ve seen from others, it looks like some sort of telemarketing firm.

I got a call on my landline (which I barely use and is on the TPS list). The guy, calling himself "Cameron," launched into this whole talk about switching from old landlines to fibre optic. I cut him off straight away and told him my number was registered, but he carried on like it didn’t matter. Then when he asked for my name, I said it was obvious this was just a sales call pretending to be "official info" since if he was legit, he’d already know who I was. I pointed out he was probably breaking the rules calling me and just hung up.

The person on the phone was quite friendly, but kept mumbling the name of their firm in a really unclear way. Even after I asked twice, it was still just nonsense to me - though I could hear everything else crystal clear! From what I gathered, the company was talking about new digital phone systems because of some updates to phone lines. Since it was a completely unexpected call, I didn’t really fancy answering their questions and pretended I wasn’t the one who handles the money side of things.
