Got a call from 01277885716 on the 30th of March 2023 around 2.22pm but didn't pick up. As soon as the voicemail started, the caller hung up. Quite annoying, feels like it could be a scam or just some sort of harassment.

I didnt pick up the call but it sounds like another one of those typical scam calls banging on about random stuff. Just to point out, loads of people are mentioning TPS membership here. Problem is, TPS handles calls from real businesses only, not these dodgy scammers. According to their site, TPS is meant for live unwanted direct marketing calls, scam calls aren’t really in their scope. They advise you to report anything fishy like this to Action Fraud instead.

This bloke rang me up and just wouldn’t stop banging on about solar panels, all about how much money I could save with them. He said someone would pop round to explain everything and leave a quote that lasts for a year. I kept trying to tell him to quit it, but he just kept going on and on. Eventually, I told him I’ve already had 14 panels on my roof for nearly a decade! Honestly, don’t get any solar work done unless you’ve got a proper guarantee backed by insurance or a trusted trade organisation.

This morning I got a call from a bloke called Joe, said he was from some solar panel firm. As soon as I told him he didn’t have my consent to call, he just hung up on me. I've since reported the number to the ICO and also the TPS. I reckon everyone should report stuff like this, it’s not hard to do and hopefully they’ll get fined one day for breaking the rules.

They never mentioned a company name and were quite aggressive about selling solar panels. I’m not sure they even understood what they were talking about. The usual spiel about "I'll have my manager ring you back about our special discount" came up. I should have said I wasn’t interested right then, but I had a lot on my plate and wasn’t up for the chat. In the end, I just ended the call because they kept pressing me.

I got a call from this number on my home phone around 12:06 today. I usually ignore calls if I don’t recognise the number, so I didn’t answer. Since they didn't leave any voicemail, I’m guessing it wasn’t a genuine call and probably best not to get back to them.

Is there a way to actually stop these scammers from trying to rip us off? Someone shared this info here just yesterday afternoon, but now it’s already buried a page and a half back. The problem is, too many of us here in the UK just don’t bother to take action against these cons. That’s exactly why they carry on - because some people fall for it, and that’s how they make a lot of untaxed money. It’s really frustrating how nothing seems to change.
