Got a call from someone saying they were Sarah Wilson from HMRC. Didn’t know the number so I let it ring off and checked it online. Thankful I read these reviews before playing the voicemail. It was awful, sounded like a robot and totally scammy, threatening me with "consequences" if I didn’t act. No real government agency talks like that! Can imagine how it’d scare older people into phoning back, so I’d suggest warning family or friends not to answer calls like this.

Got another call like this, saying it's from HMRC, with some robotic foreign woman's voice warning about terrible trouble if you don't respond. No genuine government agency would talk like that. I just had one of those dreadful robocalls from some dodgy fraud operation that tries to coax you into ringing back their number. It’s one of those premium-rate lines that’ll leave your wallet feeling considerably lighter after just a minute or two. They usually go by the name of Sarah Wilson, though I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve got a few other aliases up their sleeves. This particular nuisance interrupted me at noon today, Thursday the 2nd of August. Just a friendly warning to everyone to stay vigilant! x

This happened to me just today as well, and it was really unsettling. They called from what looked like an HMRC number and even from a local police station, threatening to arrest me. I ended up reporting it to both HMRC and the police, and they told me to contact Action Fraud. Seemed like they’d seen it all before. Fingers crossed they’re taking it seriously because those calls were truly disturbing.
