I received a rather dubious call from someone claiming to be from the “Windows Technical Department,” yet the line was clearly through the internet. When I probed him further, he reluctantly conceded that his organisation was in no way affiliated with Microsoft. He went on to assert that my computer was apparently reporting some “issues.” Employing a familiar con trick, he claimed to have access to my software's Serial Number. I cleverly kept him on the line a bit longer, and when I suggested that I’d rather reach out to them directly because the connection was so poor, he hastily provided me with the number 0127 4792474.
