So apparently this number actually belongs to Amex, but scammers have figured out how to copy it to trick people. They’ll tell you to just Google the number to prove it's them. Your phone might even show it’s Amex calling. The main thing to remember is, don’t trust the caller ID on your phone to know if it’s the real deal or not!

They said they were from American Express’s fraud department and warned me my Amex card had been compromised. They offered to help block the account. Then they said my iPhone was hacked and that all my iCloud data had been copied to another device, putting my bank accounts at risk. They even asked what other banks I used, telling me I should freeze those accounts as well. BEWARE! They'll ask you to install an app from Anydesk.com - don’t ever do that. It supposedly “fixes viruses” but it actually gives them full access to your phone. They probably got your info because you clicked on a phishing link beforehand - they had my name, address, date of birth, and even the last four digits of my Amex card. For me, it was a fake Amazon link that did it. Just because they know some details doesn’t mean they’re legit. Never hand over more personal info to them. Instead, ring the number on the back of your card to check your account status properly.

I rang Amex to check and yeah, it’s definitely a scam. They’re after the Google Pay ACTIVATION code you receive when adding your card. Never give out that verification code from Amex - if you do, these fraudsters can connect your card to their Google Pay account. And it won’t freeze your card like they claim, so be really careful!

Every time I try to get into a credit card site, this number pops up with a message saying they can’t process my request and I should call that number instead. I rang the company directly using their official phone line and they had no clue about the number or what it’s for. Last week, it took me ages - like multiple hours and attempts - to finally reset my password. Now, trying to log in again this week, it says my password is wrong, which is exactly the problem I had last week. The people running the site don’t seem to have any clue who’s behind this number.
