They tried to con my 82-year-old dad who suffers from Parkinson’s, convincing him to give out his card info. Thankfully, he confided in me straight away and we managed to cancel the card before any money was lost. Dad said he was baffled by their spiel, but that didn’t stop them from trying to exploit a vulnerable, unwell man. I’ve reported the number to the bank’s fraud team and also flagged it with the police. Please steer well clear of this number!

I bought a washing machine years ago, and my insurance expired quite some time back as well. What really got me worried was that he somehow knew my address. When I asked where he got the details from, he just wouldn’t say and then cut the call.

When I picked up, there was dead silence on the other end.

Didn’t bother going through Call Guardian with this one. Pretty sure it’s just some scammer messing about trying to waste time. Best to just block and move on.

Got a call from some Asian number I didn't recognise, but as soon as I asked who it was, they just hung up. They even mentioned my wife's name though. These days I'm getting like two or three scam calls everyday, so I’m pretty sure this was just another one.

They phoned yet again, clearly not taking the hint. Kept going on about some domestic goods insurance, proper pushy about it. We had a bit of a laugh when he seemed amazed that almost all my appliances are new with a built-in three year warranty. Then he got really shocked when I said we don’t own a TV. “You don’t have a telly?” he asked. In the end, we both agreed he wasn’t going to help me. I’m signed up to the TPS list, but his company just didn’t seem to care. That speaks volumes about them, if you ask me.

I got a call about my home appliances insurance supposedly ending soon. I kept asking him to clarify and repeat what he said. Eventually, I questioned which appliances he meant exactly. As soon as I mentioned I didn't have insurance for any of them, he just hung up on me.

I think I got caught up in one of those scams where they try to sell you insurance for your kitchen gadgets. Total rip-off!

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be about a “domestic insurance compensation claim” for our home appliances. He kept pushing to speak with an elderly family member. I told him straight up I reckoned he was scamming us and asked why he was being so dodgy. Despite being called out, he wouldn’t back down like most scammers do and kept going on with the chat. In the end, I hung up. From the sound of it, this is a really persistent and annoying caller who doesn’t quit easily and seems to be specifically after older folks. Would say watch out for this one, it feels quite intimidating.

Just a heads up about those home or appliance insurance scams - my suggestion is simple: never pick up calls from numbers you don’t know! If it really matters, they’ll usually drop you a voicemail. And trust me, these scammers hardly ever bother leaving a message!!

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Sky about renewing my contract and offered some sort of discount if I signed up for two years. I played along for a bit but once they asked for bank info I just ended the call. Definitely sounded like a scam to me.

I got a call about renewing some sort of insurance for white goods. Thing is, I never took out any policy in the first place! When I told him this, he admitted he probably had the wrong number, even though he already had my name and address. Bit odd, if you ask me.

So some bloke called offering to extend my kitchen appliances cover for two years and then said I’d get the third year free. He wanted me to pay a lump sum of £395 straight away. When I told him I’d prefer to pay monthly instead, he just hung up without saying a word. Strange behaviour if you ask me.

I keep getting calls from a woman with an accent pushing appliance insurance, claiming she’s from the company I already use. As soon as I tell her I already pay monthly, she just hangs up on me. It’s happened pretty often now.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent, claiming my washer's insurance had run out and offered to renew it for three years. When I asked what brand the machine was, he said Hoover. Thing is, I’ve never owned a Hoover washer, so I told him to buzz off and not to bother calling me again.

Got a ring from this number claiming they’d renew my D&G insurance and wanted to confirm my postcode but then started talking about covering my washing machine, fridge freezer and cooker. I knew straight away it was dodgy since my policy doesn’t include the cooker at all. Then he started going on about how I could get a cheaper deal. Asked him what the monthly cost would be and he said it had to be paid immediately. I said that wasn’t doable and when he pressed me on why, I told him I couldn’t afford that right now. Just as he was about to suggest some sort of alternative payment method, I ended the call.

Same here, they called saying all my appliance warranties were up but then told me they weren’t. They claimed they’d cancel my current plans so I could get this new “special” premium deal. Seriously, do they think I’m that daft? My washing machine warranty just ended a week ago, and here they come with a whole different pitch. They kept pushing but I had to cut them off - couldn’t keep pretending to be interested any longer.

Like a lot of these calls, it was someone offering an upgrade on appliances I don't even own. Pretty rubbish scam really, because when I asked what appliances they meant, they just gave me all the wrong info. I said I'd need to double-check and went back to what I was doing. Five minutes later, they were still on the line, so I told them the appliances they mentioned didn’t add up and it felt like a scam attempt. Then they said they'd have to ask their manager and hung up. Don’t think I’ll be hearing from them again!

Like many others who've shared their stories about this number, I got a call trying to get me to sign up for insurance on my fridge-freezer and washing machine. I told the bloke I don’t have a washing machine (which isn’t true, but I’ve no problem fibbing to these muppets) and he seemed at a loss. Then he stammered something about the fridge-freezer, but I’d had enough by then and just ended the call. Honestly, I was quite chuffed with myself for not letting loose with the swear words these tossers deserve!

Got a call from an Asian woman trying to get me to renew insurance for my fridge and washing machine. She had my name and address right, but when I asked when I’d actually bought the appliances, she couldn’t answer and just ended the call with some rude comment. What a bizarre job that must be!

Got a call from an Asian lady, but honestly, I couldn’t catch the name of the company she said she was with. Every time I asked, she kinda changed the answer. Said something about protecting my home appliances and mentioned a washing machine, but kept it pretty vague overall. Definitely felt like a scam.
