I recently received a call from this number, but I'm extremely cautious these days. I fell victim to a scam about a year ago when someone pretending to be from a legitimate tech company locked me out of my computer and then charged me an arm and a leg to unlock it. Looking back, I realised I could have easily sorted the issue at PC World without all that hassle. Unfortunately, my bank couldn’t retrieve the £300 I lost because I mistakenly agreed to the payment, so I'm now very sceptical. It's clear I was conned; they used the name of the genuine firm, which is just despicable. As someone on disability benefits, that experience put me in a really tough situation, and I genuinely believe these unscrupulous scammers should be thrown in jail and the key tossed away.

There’s quite a dodgy scheme going about with the event viewer. If you type in "evenvwr scam" online, you’ll uncover all the ins and outs of this con. Better to be informed than to fall victim!

so this guy was saying something about "computer secutiry" and wanted me to open the event viewer. he kept insisting the stuff in the logs was serious and offered to fix it by logging into their server. i ended up chatting with him for more than 5 minutes, at least they weren’t trying to trick some elderly person clueless about tech. once i finally hung up, he rang back straight away wanting to know why i’d ended the call.

They rang me thrice. I ended the call straight away the first time, the second time the bloke sounded proper cheeky, and then the third I just cut it off without saying a word.

Just like others said, they tried getting into my computer then cut off. But then they called back four times straight, sounding really pushy. When I asked for his phone number, he gave me a completely different one. Proper shady behaviour.

I think this number got used by some scammers pretending to be legit. They've switched it up now though.

This morning, I got a phone call from this number but it ended before anyone said anything. I’m really tired of all these annoying calls lately - feels like they're more frequent than the real ones I want to pick up.

Got a call from this number and it was just another sales pitch, exactly what I expected. They kept going on about some deal I never asked for. After a few times, I just blocked it. Nothing new, just the usual annoying telemarketer stuff. Don’t waste your time with it!

I just blocked that number.

Received a rather dodgy call from a chap with an Asian accent, claiming there were issues involving a John Thomson and a Peter Jones from Texas getting into my computer. He was employing all sorts of scare tactics to persuade me to power up my device. Quite frustratingly, he kept talking over me the whole time. It was a call on my landline, yet he couldn’t explain how he obtained my number. When I attempted to ring the number back, it was perpetually engaged. The fellow claimed to be affiliated with Windows and Microsoft, but I must say, it all sounded exceedingly suspect to me.

I keep getting calls that just drop as soon as I pick up. I'm registered with the TPS but it doesn’t seem to stop these annoying calls at all. Really frustrating!

I keep getting hassle from this number, ringing me multiple times each day. It’s such a bother! I've set up caller ID on my landline now, so I just ignore it.

On Friday, I got a call from this lot and just hung up straight away. Then he called again sounding all smug, so I told him I was on to their game. They try to get you to let them use TeamViewer on your PC so they can have a nose at your info, and then try to charge you for some software install. Whatever they reckon they can blag that day. I was almost caught out by something similar a couple of years back.

I had a call from an Asian gentleman who claimed that a certain John Parkes from Texas has been sending me emails. I was actually near my computer at the time. I mentioned I was unavailable, and he mentioned he would try to call again. I've gone ahead and blocked the number: 01259761824. Just a heads-up for everyone. Stay vigilant!

In the last 30 minutes, this number has buzzed my landline like 3 times. Every time I answer, there’s complete silence, so I just end up hanging up. Bit annoying, really.

I've received calls from this number three times now, each time claiming there's an issue with my computer. My husband, rather cheekily, inquired how the caller managed to sleep at night, and just like that, the call ended abruptly! Be wary, folks-don’t fall for these con artists!

I had a foreign gentleman on the line claiming there was an issue with my computer or laptop. He went on to say that a “John Thompson” from Texas was attempting to gain access to my device! Quite alarming, I must say!

The phone rang a few times, I picked up but there was nobody on the other end. Strange!

This number rang me earlier today, but when I picked up, there was just dead silence and then they quickly ended the call. Seems like the same sort of thing happened to me.

Got a call from someone saying they were tech support, maybe Microsoft, about a problem with my “windows computer”. Total scam, since I never gave them any info and there’s no computer linked to my number. These types of calls just assume everyone has a PC. They have zero way of knowing if your device is even infected, so none of it’s legit. I actually got annoyed because the guy was cheeky enough to call me “love” - definitely not on!

I received a call from someone purporting to be from Microsoft tech support, insisting that my computer had been infected with a virus. This is just the typical ruse they employ to manipulate unsuspecting computer users into granting access to their systems. The truth is, there's no way anyone could have the insights they claimed regarding my PC’s health. My advice? Either block the number altogether or simply disregard their calls.

this number has rung me twice now, and each occasion there was nobody on the line when I picked up. at first, I wasn't sure about the area code, even though it looked legit, so I just let it ring out. then they called again today, with the same silence, so I decided to block it. I looked up the code here and saw it’s from alloa - bit odd cos I’ve no contacts there. glad I stopped it from coming through.

I received a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, insisting that my email is being misused by someone in the States for fraudulent activities. The caller had what sounded like an Asian accent and was rather insistent, even ringing again after I hung up. I'm quite baffled by the whole situation and not entirely sure how to proceed.

Got a bothersome call earlier, and when I answered, there was complete silence before the line just cut off. The area code shows it’s from Alloa in Scotland, but I’ve got no connections there at all.
