Earlier today, I had a chat with a chap of Asian descent who claimed to be calling from Virgin Media, supposedly to provide me with a special discount. However, considering I’ve never received a call from Virgin Media before, it raised a few red flags for me. When I pressed him for some sort of verification that he was indeed from Virgin Media, he suddenly hung up. I’ve since reported the number to Virgin Media without delay, and they’ve assured me that it is definitely not associated with their line of communication. Seems like yet another scam attempt!

SCAM ALERT. Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from Virgin Media, saying they had a better offer for my account. The thing is, I don't even have a VM account. This week, I've had three calls like this, all from Aloa, same phone number except the last digit changes every time.

Got a call from an Asian guy saying his name was Max, and I think he said something like 'carfone'? The line was really poor, loads of noise in the background like it was a call centre, couldn’t really hear what he was saying. When I asked him to repeat himself, he just went silent, so I ended up hanging up and blocking the number. Normally wouldn’t have picked up but was waiting on a call from a utility firm.

There’s a couple of posts below that explain what you gotta do if you want to put an end to these scam calls. It’s a bit of work, but I’ve already done it myself and keep reporting scam calls and msgs straight to the police site (got the address bookmarked). Sadly, it’s gonna need thousands of folks reporting before any change happens. Loads of people put in reports here every single day though. Got a reply from my MP which was kinda interesting, but honestly, it’s gonna take way more than just me asking these questions before they act on it.

TOTALLY A SCAM! Make sure to report every scam call or text straight away to the police fraud centre. Just search for ‘action fraud’ and head to the ‘police.uk’ website. Look for the ‘report phishing’ section and go through all the info carefully. Then put in all the details about the scam, including any links or website addresses. You don’t need to sign up and they won’t ask for personal info unless you’ve actually lost cash. The only way the police can keep track of these dodgy attempts is if we all report them!
