Got a call from a woman with a thick accent saying she was from TSP and promised no more annoying calls on my number. Assuming she's telling the truth, I guess I won’t get any more calls. But who knows if that’s really the case?

Got a call on Sunday 6 May at 2.34pm BST from a woman who sounded like she might have an Indian accent. She seemed to already know my age range and address but then asked for my credit card expiry date. I told her I pay by direct debit so I wouldn’t give it. Anyway, this number isn’t real.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with BT, said they knew I pay by direct debit. He asked for my bank details to supposedly change my phone settings to stop spam calls. Definitely had an Indian accent. He phoned me three times in just 5 minutes!

No clue who this number belongs to, I’ve never met anyone in Blackburn so I just ignore it. They keep ringing multiple times every week and won’t give up, leaving the phone ringing for ages. Even though I’m on the TPS list, it’s clearly pointless because the calls just keep coming. Honestly, what’s the point of signing up to TPS? These annoying calls are becoming more and more frequent and it’s proper harassment now!

I didn’t pick up and there was no voicemail left. After reading the comments here, I’m thinking of just blocking the number. I get why one bloke was annoyed, but it seems like if I don’t answer, they just can’t get their info.

Someone rang saying they were from TPS and that they already had my bank info, then tried to sell me some upgrade to stop annoying calls. I told them straight they were scammers or trying to phish and ended the call. They had a pretty strong accent from the Indian subcontinent and sounded quite pushy.

Just like loads of others said, it was a bogus TPS call trying to scam my bank info. I decided to throw all the legal stuff I knew at them and they ended up hanging up pretty quick. Then I got another call from a different number, but weirdly my phone didn’t save it - felt dodgy as anything!

Got a call on 6th May from someone who already had my name and address, even knew I pay my phone bill by direct debit. They claimed they were updating my phone preferences. Then the caller said my debit card had expired back in 2019 and asked what new card I was using. I didn’t feel comfortable replying, so I just said goodbye and hung up.

I picked up my home phone at 10.26 on a bank holiday Monday and the person said they were from the telephone preference service, trying to sign me up to stop nuisance calls. They even started reading out my name, then began telling me my address and postcode. When I asked how that was relevant, the call suddenly cut off.

on 5th may, which was a bank holiday, my landline beeped on at about 10:15 in the morning from that number. i didnt pick up and they left no message or anything. i googled the area code and it came up as from blackburn. some of my family live round there but when i phoned back i was met with a recorded voice saying "number not recognised." how many others here have ex-directory numbers like me?
