Automatic phone call trying to reach Joanne

This number has been calling my landline daily lately. I usually ignore it but tried blocking it now, yet it still rings through. I even pay extra to avoid these calls, but somehow they manage to get past the blocking system. It’s really annoying and feels like harassment.

They constantly attempt to contact me. Despite blocking their number, they still find a way to leave a message on my voicemail. I'm aware that I don't owe any money, so I certainly won't be answering their call. Yes, it's Capquest - a company that purchases old debts for very little and aggressively pursues individuals for large sums of money. They're despicable individuals.

Despite blocking this number, the person continues to leave voicemails, persistently harassing me.

They keep ringing and leaving messages even after I’ve blocked them. It’s at all hours and honestly, it’s making me really stressed out.

This number rang me up around 8.20am today, I picked up but there was just silence on the other end.

Keeps calling at daft hours, like 6 in the morning one day and then half past 10 at night another time.

They’ve called me like 3 times in just a minute, I keep just hanging up on them.

This number rang me earlier too. It was a recorded voice that didn’t make much sense.

Capquest is a right pain!

Got a robo call asking for some Debbie someone, definitely not me, and told to press one. I just hung up and looked up the number straight away, which is why I’m sharing my thoughts here.

Annoying as hell

Just got a call from 'Capquest' again, and like always, even though I’m an authorised contact (they ring about a debt that might be really old), they keep asking for my missus about some ‘personal matter’. I’ve stopped trying to explain they can talk to me instead. After almost a year, we finally reached out to a debt charity about a month ago (I think it was ‘Red Square’?), who’re supposed to handle things with these lot now. Yet, we’re still getting these mysterious calls. If they’re legit, it’s odd they don’t seem to care about how dodgy they look online.

Yeah, they claimed to be capquest and said they’d sent letters to me but I never got any and don’t plan on replying anyway.

Yeah, Capquest is really starting to annoy me, they say they're a debt collection firm but these guys definitely aren’t. Don’t bother picking up. They claim to have sent letters or whatever, but they don’t even know my complete name.

Had a few phone calls and even got an email saying they’ve sent me letters. No idea where they are though, haven’t received anything. They call me by my first name on the phone but never the full name. I don’t owe anyone a penny. Cap Quest can just forget it. If they want to speak to me, they can come to my house - but no chance, the same goes for sending letters. If I picked up, they wouldn’t be happy. Best thing is to just ignore them altogether.

I've had issues with them before, trying to chase some supposed debt from two decades ago! Ended up getting the Financial Services Ombudsman involved just to make them stop harassing me.

They wanted me to answer some security questions first before talking about a private issue about me, I just told em to send it in a letter instead!!

They might attempt to glean further info, asking questions like, “Is this Mr/Mrs...?” Resist the urge to respond! They might follow up with, “Do you reside at...?” and again, don’t divulge a thing! You can inquire about their identity and purpose for the call if you’re inclined. There’s no need to feel bad about being blunt; you’re free to terminate the call whenever, no need for a farewell. If you fancy a bit of mischief, try to drag out their time as much as possible. A clever trick my mate across the road uses is to act a bit bonkers or as if he’s not quite all there. He responds to their queries with odd remarks like, “I’ve no clue; my neighbour's got his journey to the moon today, and I must prepare his packed lunch.” Or he might say, “My carer is due to arrive soon; I’ll pop them on the line when they get here; could you hold for a sec?” Then he just leaves the phone off the hook! Responses like these are sure to baffle the caller and lead them to realise they’re not going to get anything from you, making them less likely to ring back. These callers are on a mission to get through as many calls as possible, so the longer you can tie them up, the better it is for everyone involved. Wasting their precious minutes is a brilliant way to get back at all those annoying calls-it genuinely frustrates them! It might be useful to jot down all the unrecognised numbers that contact you, particularly keeping an eye on the area codes. For instance, the code “01252” relates to Aldershot, so be wary of variations that maintain that prefix. Lastly, if they masquerade as someone from your bank, never divulge any information! Instead, use a neighbour’s phone to contact your bank directly, avoiding any numbers the caller might provide. It’s always wiser to visit your bank in person to sort things out. Got a call from some Scottish guy looking for a mate. Definitely not me, even tho it's my number. Said he'd get it deleted or somethin. We'll wait and see.

Got a call on my mobile from a Scottish lady trying to find a Karen, or someone with a similar name. When I told her she’d dialled the wrong number, she said they’d remove my number from their list.

Got a call earlier, they wanted to talk to my wife. I said she wasn’t here. Then they asked when she might be free. I said I’m her husband and asked who they were, what they wanted and why they were calling. The person said they couldn’t share anything with me since I wasn’t authorised. So I told them to send any questions in writing because my wife passed away 11 months ago. After that, their attitude shifted and they apologised.

Got a call from some debt collector asking for my son, but they wouldn’t say who they were on the phone. Had to look up their number myself. How do they expect me to give a message when they keep saying it’s private? It’s so frustrating! Even worse, my son has already paid off everything, he doesn’t owe them a penny. Absolute joke.

Yeah, these dodgy callers keep ringing - they dont even bother with your replies - ask all sorts of nosy stuff and then get all grumpy when you tell them to jog on!!

Got a call and picked up, then some robotic voice goes "private call for (my name said all wrong). Press 1 if you’re there". Didn’t press anything cause who even is that? Lucky I didn’t cos I’ve no business with Capquest! Plus, it was just when the kids were about to eat!

Cap Quest got the right name but when I didn’t want to answer their security question and asked what the call was about, the person wouldn’t tell me. They said they’d be sending a letter too.

Total nuisance, honestly.

Got a voicemail from an automated system asking for some guy called 'Paul Groves' - doesn’t sound like me at all.

They keep ringing me and I've already said I'm not who they're after, plus they call late at night which I thought was against the law!

I have been receiving frequent calls from this number and others that start with 01252765xxx, with the callers asking for my personal information. To avoid further trouble, I have decided to use a call blocking app that will prevent these calls from bothering me.

Someone keeps ringing but I have no idea who they are.
