Cap Quest may make a great fuss and throw around alarming “threats,” but honestly, that's the extent of their abilities. For those interested, here's a pertinent extract from the Debt Collection Guidance laid out by the Office of Fair Trading-perhaps Cap Quest ought to give it a good read: Statute Barred Debt 2.13 This guidance pertains to debt collection efforts, irrespective of the age of the debt. We plan to delve deeper into this aspect of debt recovery, analysing the relevant legislation and practices right across the UK. 2.14 Previously, we've encountered a fair number of cases concerning statute barred debts under the Limitation Act 1980, which is applicable in England and Wales. Drawing from that experience, our stance with respect to England and Wales is as follows: a. we acknowledge that the debt is legally recognised b. however, it is the methods employed in recovering said debt that can cross the line into unfairness, specifically: • it is deemed unjust to pursue a debt if the creditor has been silent during the appropriate limitation period • if a creditor maintained regular dialogue with the debtor prior to the debt becoming statute barred, we do not view it as unjust to continue efforts to reclaim the debt • misleading debtors about their rights and responsibilities is quite unfair-like falsely suggesting or implying that the debt is still subject to recovery, banking on the fact that consumers may not be aware of the relevant legal statutes • and pressing for payment after a debtor has clearly stated their refusal to pay because the debt is statute barred might well constitute harassment in accordance with section 40 (1) of the Administration of Justice Act 1970. - caller: Capquest

Capquest is known for acquiring outdated debts and making attempts to collect on them, often with inaccurate information. More often than not, they seem to have no qualms about reaching out to your friends and neighbours, claiming they have a parcel or some communication waiting for you. They appear to be after your personal details. In my case, it seems my mobile number has been muddled up with someone else's information, possibly due to a clerical error on a form, and now I’m being pressured to cough up for a debt that isn’t mine... as if! Additionally, they tend to ring from 03339 numbers, like 0333 999 7201 - which I can verify is from CapQuest.

This number keeps calling but never seems to bother with leaving a message. Quite frustrating, to say the least!
