Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent who said his name was Harry. He said he was from the Telephone Preference Service and promised I'd stop getting annoying calls. He started asking me questions about how I pay my phone bill, like if it's by cash or direct debit or whatever. I asked him where he was calling me from and he said West London. But then I noticed the number he was ringing on wasn't even from London, it looked like it was from Bangor in Wales. As soon as I mentioned that, he hung up straight away. Definitely a dodgy scam attempt.

About half an hour ago, this number rang me, but the voice was all garbled and I couldn’t make out much except something about nuisance calls. It was definitely one of those annoying calls. I didn’t give them any info, but if I had handed over my card details, I’m certain it would have ended badly. What freaked me out the most was that they already had my full name and address.

Got a call from some Indian guy saying he's Patrick from the TPS wanting me to confirm my card info. Told him I'm not interested and hung up, then blocked the number. Couple of hours later, they tried again from another number with exactly the same story. Blocked that one too! Watch out everyone, it's a scam!

Dodgy lot! I never pick up calls from unfamiliar numbers, but this time I got a voicemail from 'the Tax Office' saying I had an arrest warrant for unpaid taxes and to press 1 to chat with my case worker. Ha! As if. They've called me about six times now, and even my two neighbours got the exact same message. Typical scam!

I was on the phone with these lot for around 5 minutes, same as what others have mentioned about it being linked to TPS. When I asked what info they had, the bits she told me matched up (though I didn’t actually verify anything, I just fed her rubbish details). Honestly, it’s a total scam and quite risky - don’t hand over any of your info to them.

some bloke rang saying he was from the telephone preference service or something like that, claiming he had my info from them. i kept telling him i wasn’t interested, but he kept on nagging for more than 10 minutes! he said he could stop all those annoying calls from abroad, and i told him he was exactly the kind of caller i wanted to block. he went on about a one-off fee of £21.99 for a lifetime service and even tried saying he had my direct debit details. since i work in a bank and have seen loads of scams like this, i finally managed to get him to leave me alone!

just got a call where the person said they represented the telephone preference service, and claimed they could improve my settings to block more spam calls. weirdly, they already had my name, address and even how i pay my phone bill. they kept asking me to confirm my account info, but i refused to share any of it. felt really off to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Telephone Preference. They were pushing some kind of upgrade to block international calls. Oddly, they already had loads of my info. Then they asked for my Direct Debit "registration number" - which seemed like they were after my bank details! They insisted it was just to verify things, but luckily I gave the wrong info. Each time I said no and hung up, they just kept ringing back. So annoying!

The whole 'telephone preference upgrade' thing is such a joke. Surely they realise this service should be free and they shouldn’t be after my account info.
