Honestly, these lot should be behind bars! They claimed they were calling from the Telephone Preference Service, asking if I was still getting annoying calls. Instead of helping, they seemed more focused on figuring out who I was, even pressing me to verify my address and confirm if I was the account holder. I asked who she was and where she was calling from - she said West London! That was a dead giveaway it was a SCAM. Because I see these calls as REALLY risky, I’ve reported the number to the Police and have BLOCKED it now.

Then he asked me to verify myself using my debit card info, even mentioned an old expiry date. Afterwards, he put me through to some 'manager' who started asking for even more personal stuff. On the 26th of April 2019, I received a call from a gentleman with an Asian accent who claimed to be from the Telephone Preference Service. He had all my information including my name, address, and postcode. He inquired if I was under the age of 75, to which I replied that I was nearing 80. He assured me that they would put a stop to all nuisance calls but hung up before I could probe further about how they could manage that. Seems to me like they might be targeting older individuals for a scam.

Thankfully, I've set my phone to show the number of whoever's calling, so if it comes from some weird area code, I just let it go to voicemail. If it's a genuine person, they can leave a message, but honestly, nobody ever does. Mostly just scammers wasting their time.

Got two calls this morning from the same number. I answered the second one and it was an Indian guy. He said he was with some telephone preference service and wanted to re-register my private number to block all the annoying calls. I found it hilarious and told him he was part of the problem before hanging up. The day before, the same number called my husband claiming to be from BT, saying our phone would be disconnected soon. The weird thing is, we don't even have BT as our phone provider!

If you get a call from someone you weren’t expecting, it’s probably a scam. If I want to report annoying calls or stop them, I just reach out to TPS myself - they don’t ring you first. Never ever share your bank info or personal details with random callers. If you need something, just call back on the proper number or check the official site.

Im guessin the bloke was called Michael or maybe Robert, haha! Never came across many Indians with them names tho. Usually you get Mohammad or Ali, right? Those sound more typical. I wonder if his surname was Khan, Singh or even Ali. Or could be something random like Smith! Feels like a total scam to me!

I've had this number call me two times already today. It's not saved in my contacts, so I didn't pick up. Still, I had to pause what I was doing to check who it was. So I got a call from someone claiming to be from the telephone preference service, asking for my bank info. They were super pushy and kept insisting it wasn’t a scam, but trust me, it definitely was! TPS is meant to be free and they wouldn't have any direct debit or bank details anyway. I told them I've got the call recorded and if they ring again, I'll report them to the cops. They’ve called me about three or four times before but this was the first time I actually answered.

Been getting loads of annoying calls every day for the past week. I just don’t pick up. First got calls from 01248 209511 then switched to 01248 209499. Yesterday I saw 01248 209494 pop up, and today they’ve called at least 3 times from 01248 209556. I finally turned on that free 1572 call protect thing, no monthly fees, but the catch is you’ve gotta answer the call and hang up to block the number. Reckon that’s why these scammers keep ringing from different numbers. The blocked list is gonna fill up quick with 100 slots.

I’d love to say a lot more about these dodgy scammers, but I’m worried I might get into trouble with the police if I say exactly what I feel. So, I’ll hold back a bit. Got a call from someone saying she was Louise, working for some telephone preference thing, asking if I’m still getting dodgy calls. Honestly, my phone’s just buzzing with these people from India using fake names like James, Gavin, Louise or whatever, always trying to trick you into giving info or cash. It’s so bloody annoying and it’s happening every single day. Someone really needs to sort this out, it’s nonstop!

So this 01248209556 number (landline) called me earlier today around 4.12pm. It's apparently from Bangor, North Wales. I answered but there was no reply. I was under the impression the government was cracking down on these rubbish calls, but if they can't even stick to a referendum, what hope is there? I've also used BT’s 1572 service to block them. Proper annoying, honestly!
