Got a call from someone with an Indian accent saying they were from O2 and offering me a 40% discount on my bill. They also sent me a couple of texts. I told them straight up they were a scammer and should sort themselves out with a real job before hanging up. Somebody rang claiming to be from O2, but I told him I wasn’t convinced. Asked him to give me my account number to prove it. He just guessed a number straight away. I said I’d have to put him on hold to verify, but really I was just wasting time and his minutes. After about a minute, he hung up. Felt pretty good catching a scam like that. This is like the fifth call like this I’ve had recently, each time from a different number, which is why now I always ask for my O2 account details.

AVOID RESPONDING UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! They’re ringing you up, masquerading as O2 and even shooting over security codes that appear authentic. However, the message clearly states to NEVER SHARE THIS CODE. Their aim seems to be gaining access to your account. Just imagine the havoc they could wreak if you unwittingly hand over that code. It’s an absolute SCAM, so keep your wits about you!

Got a call from someone saying they were from O2, promising 40% discount and a gift hamper. Didn’t even care that I told them I wasn’t the account owner, just kept going "Come on, I’m from O2, trust me". Then they just abruptly ended the call.

I encountered what seemed to be a phoney O2 representative on the phone. Then I got put through to a guy claiming he was from some kind of anti-fraud team, but he said they weren’t connected to my bank or anything. Then he asked why I had called him!
