Got a call around 9.30 on a Saturday morning from an Asian guy, with typical office background noise. He said he was from Talk Talk and claimed there was an issue with my internet, threatening to cut the service off. I told him I don’t have Talk Talk anymore since last year after a hacking problem, I’m with BT now. Still, he kept insisting I should stay on the line for 5 minutes. I refused and just ended the call.

Got a call from an Asian guy on 01242513504 claiming he was with BT’s security team about my wifi router. I told him I’d already had a call from that number and had checked with BT, who said they hadn’t contacted me. Told him to take my number off their list. They keep bringing up all these supposed errors in your event viewer logs to make you think something's seriously wrong - it’s just a trick, nothing unusual. Then they tell you to open IEXPLORER [#]SUPPORT[###]. Don’t fall for it, I pretended to follow their instructions for like 30 minutes just to mess with them. I’ve had the exact same thing happen to me. First call, no answer. On the second, some lady with an Asian accent said she was from BT, chatted for about half a minute then just cut off. The third call was another Asian person, again saying it was BT, telling me my router was broke. After about a minute they just hung up too - did I say something wrong or are they just guessing? I really don’t get why BT isn’t doing more to stop these numbers from getting through to people.

Got a call from an Asian lady saying she was with BT - said my router (or 'Hub' as they call it) was being messed up by some corrupted files. I asked her to tell me the date and time of my engineer appointment (which I actually have), but after a long pause she just cut the call. This number rings me around 4 or 5 times every day. Glad I saw what others have posted. I’ve never picked up when this number calls, but honestly feel like shoving the phone straight up their backside cause they’re absolutely bloody annoying. How on earth do they manage to get your number? Even if you’re not in any directory. Is it just a random guessing game? Wish there was some way to hunt these pests down. It’s especially frustrating when you’ve got a disability.

The issue is BT has contracted out their services to India, and I’m sure some of their staff are passing on customer info to third parties. It’s similar to what happened with certain banks, which ended up in massive fraud and had to take serious action.

Yeah, defo a scam. Some bloke claiming to be a BT engineer. You got a couple options, actually three really. One, just say you ain’t got a computer. Two, every time he asks you to do something on your PC, don’t do it but pretend like you have. Keep going until he asks what’s on your screen and just say it’s the same every time, see how long before he works out it’s a con. And three, just ask him what colour knickers he’s wearing, or better yet, tell him to jog on.

Got two calls today from Indian guys pretending to be from British Telecom, telling me my router's got a problem that's letting viruses onto my computer. Got 4 calls from this number over 2 days, they want to get into my computer. Usually it's people who sound Indian or Asian saying they're from BT and that there's a problem with my BT line that they can fix if I let them access my PC. I played along for a bit then told them my computer was a laptop and it was at work. They said they'd ring back in 2 hours, but I told them I won’t be at work for days. They're scammers trying to hack into my computer, I reported it to BT. The number they called from is 01242 513504.

This number has called us quite a few times. Now we just let it ring until it goes to voicemail, and they hang up straight away. If it was really important, they’d leave a message, but that never happens. Honestly, who puts their number out there like this? Really makes you question their smarts!

I’ve got a disability and was stuck in bed with bad back pain when this number called me two times within just one hour. Honestly, I really hope BT sorts this out soon, it can’t be rocket science to track down who’s behind these calls. It’s so frustrating to keep getting rung like this.

YOU HAVE THE PHONE NUMBER, WHY NOT JUST BLOCK IT AT THE EXCHANGE? I’M SURE THERE’S MORE YOU COULD BE DOING THAN JUST LETTING IT SLIDE. AND NO, I’M NOT BUYING ANOTHER CALL BLOCKER FROM YOU - I ALREADY GOT ONE. EVER SINCE I SWITCHED BACK TO BT, THESE NUISANCE CALLS HAVE BEEN NON-STOP. I WAS WITH PLUSNET, WHICH IS PART OF BT, AND NEVER RECEIVED A SINGLE CALL ON THE SAME NUMBER. IF THIS KEEPS UP, I'M DEFINITELY MOVING AWAY FOR GOOD.

Got called by this number 12 times just today. Same story as others, bloke claimed to be from BT tech support. When I told him I don't have BT, he switched it up saying he was from my “broadband provider’s” technical team, but couldn’t even say which one! Sure, yeah right. Starting to get really annoying now. Reported it to the TPS but honestly don’t expect much, they don’t seem to do anything useful.

Got another call from some overseas scammer claiming he was with BT saying my "router" was causing them problems lol. I played along and sat in front of my computer, but when I told him it wouldn't start up no matter how many times I tried, he got really annoyed while I kept him waiting on the phone.

Getting like 5 to 10 calls daily about my router letting in some kinda virus. It’s a bit of a laugh tho, so I keep pretending to order a curry, rice and popadoms from them. Weirdly, they just hang up every time & I’m still waiting on that curry delivery!!

If we don’t recognise the number, we just don’t pick up. This time, we didn’t answer and no voicemail was left either. They can keep ringing but we won’t be answering until whatever time they stop.

About a week back someone called claiming to be from BT, saying there was an issue with my router. I told them to get lost since I’m not with BT anymore and ended the call. But today, they ring me again, this time pretending to be from Sky! Honestly, these people should be shut down or something.

Got a call from someone pretending to be BT, sounded like some overseas call centre. They rang earlier speaking in a language I couldn't understand. They said my wifi was having issues and told me to type 'eventvwr' into the run box. When I asked them to prove they were genuinely from BT, they just cut me off! I've already told BT's fraud team about it.

Here we go once more! Been called twice today already! The first caller was rude, then just cut me off on the second. The TPS don’t do anything, BT couldn’t care less, and the Trading Standards - who the TPS say you should complain to - are totally useless too!! No surprise these scams keep happening. It’s really worrying. You’d think BT would actually care if someone is pretending to be them and tricking people!

Just like everyone says, they say they’re from BT and somehow “spot” problems with your PC. Total rip-off, don’t share any details with them - just end the call. They’ve rung me like 7 or 8 times in the past couple days, so frustrating. I either don’t pick up or just hang up straight away now.
