Almost all scam calls from India seem to be linked to your BT number. I've not had a landline active for over 4 years, only used my mobile now. About 8 months ago, I contacted BT support, hoping to sort it out, but nothing changed! It’s really risky for older folks, and it’s shocking that BT doesn’t block these calls from India coming into the UK. Really shameful service from them.

This number has rung me three times in the past few days. A woman with a South Asian accent claimed my computer was sending error alerts and offered to sort it out. When I asked her location, she said BT in London. It smelt like a scam, so I demanded to speak to her manager. Then a bloke came on, telling me to press the Windows key and R together! Seriously? I asked who he was and his location again, and he said BT, Gas Street, London. When I asked for a number to ring him back, the call just cut off.

They keep ringing me loads, usually about half past twelve and then again round four thirty in the afternoon. I've saved their digits under "IGNORE" so when it shows up, I just don't answer. That trick works fine until they start calling from a new number I haven't saved yet.

At first, I got a call from a woman with an Indian accent, but after I said I wasn’t pleased with what they offer, she just ended the call. Since then, I’ve been getting calls from them almost every day, sometimes three or four times daily. It's become a real hassle having to keep pausing what I’m doing just to find out who it is.

I got a call supposedly from BT saying my computer was infected with a virus, but it’s obviously just a rubbish scam by some dodgy person overseas. The best way to deal with it is to respond with something like, “Oh really? I didn’t know BT had left their proper spot in the BT Tower in London and moved to some grimy address at 16 Grosvenor Street in Cheltenham, which by the way has an illegal basement flat up for sale. If that were true, it’d be a clear case of fraud or tax dodging, so I’m surprised BT would stoop so low just to get attention.”

It felt a bit suspicious, so I told her I couldn’t sort it right then and asked her to ring me again later. After going through all these comments, I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. I got a call from 01242 513504 after missing a ring from this number earlier. Some woman on the line was speaking in a language I didn’t understand and she seemed pretty annoyed I didn’t answer back.

This number called me twice recently, and it was pretty much the same as what others described. A bloke with a South Asian accent rang saying he was from BT, telling me there was an issue with my router and IP address, and that I needed to link my computer to their system. When I asked them to phone back on BT’s official number, they just ended the call straight away. I reported it to BT today, Monday 29th August.

Today my elderly mum got called three times, first by a lady with an Asian accent, then a man, also Asian. They said there was some issue with her internet router but couldn’t really explain properly what it was. The man got quite rude and started grilling my 90-year-old mum, asking why she couldn’t find someone to help her, even wondered if she could read or had a degree. It was meant to be funny but it really distressed her. No idea what their aim is but this kind of thing has to be put an end to.

Called us at 5 o'clock this afternoon but failed to identify themselves on our BT Call Guardian 8500, so the phone didn’t ring and simply bypassed the answering machine. Quite peculiar, as in our experience, none of the nuisance callers have ever announced their identity. Although we haven't actively blocked their numbers, they just can't connect. I've noticed other websites are also mentioning similar scam calls purporting to be from BT regarding issues with routers.

I got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was ringing from BT about my internet service. It’s obvious this is just another scam, probably coming from someone pretending to be BT. You can tell from the call details that it’s not legit. I told her I wasn’t interested and suggested she find something better to do than bother people with fake calls like this. Definitely something BT should be told about, as they aren’t behind these dodgy calls.

So this number rang me just as I was heading out yesterday. The voice sounded like someone from an Indian call centre. They claimed to be from BT. Since I was actually waiting for a BT call, I told them to ring back tomorrow. Then, today I got another call, maybe from the same person, saying there was a virus issue with my broadband router! I got a bit iffy and said I hadn’t noticed any problems and that I’d contact BT myself. She then said, "How will you do that when I’m about to block you?" I hung up straight away.

Got a call earlier today from 01242 513503. The guy on the line had a strong Indian or Pakistani accent and claimed to be from BT. This number kept ringing me up loads of times, and it was clear the bloke was from BT. He told me the only way to sort things was if I let him connect straight to my computer. Weirdly enough, the caller ID showed the number alongside 'unavailable'. I got a few calls from it during the day, and not all rang through when I answered - which usually means it’s dodgy. They’ve been really bothering me, called me 12 times just yesterday, and already 5 times today. I think they're also using blocked numbers and some weird short ones like 0030 777 453 or something similar to sneak through. Counting all those, I’ve gotten about 35 calls from them now. Got calls from the same number six times today! Every time a bloke with an Indian accent asking about a BT router. Even when my husband got really fed up and told them off, they just kept ringing back. This morning I picked up and said I was fine, and the guy just went "if you're fine, bye" and hung up - guess that was the right answer! Over the last few hours, I got three calls, all from the same Indian man saying there's an issue with my computer. What’s strange is that I only recently had some trouble with my router and landline, which actually got sorted out yesterday.
