Its always the same lot, got nothing to do with bills or payments. I’ve had calls from solar firms, insurance, loan people, phone providers, even estate agents. Plus some entertainment firms as well. Who even are these people? I received a message from a woman speaking in a really loud, robotic tone, quoting some reference number. Thing is, I don’t owe anyone a penny. I’ve also got another number that keeps ringing non-stop. I told them my name, said they’ve got the wrong person and I can’t talk about it. But they just keep bombarding my phone with loads of messages! I wish they’d say something like, if this is for you, press one! Otherwise just piss off.

Got a text from 01242 508 627 saying I need to sort out a payment and ring them back!! No way!! I’ve blocked and deleted the number after checking here and seeing it’s a total scam!! The Government really needs to get a grip on all this, it’s getting worse with scams coming by post, phone calls, texts and everything else. They haven’t done enough since this all kicked off.

I didnt pick up - my tip is to avoid answering calls from unfamiliar numbers, especially after 5pm. Most of them are scams or debt collectors, who should only call at sensible hours by law (but even then I don’t reply as they dont say who they’re representing straight away, which they’re also supposed to do legally). Also, from what I’ve heard, a lot of debt collectors don’t actually have a valid contract to claim the debt. So, best to just ignore. Blocking helps for a while but they’ll just ring from a new number.

If it was really urgent, I’d think they’d call in the evening or send a letter. Probably just some sales pitch, but could be a risk for people who don’t spot the signs.

This number rang me up with a recorded message saying I owe some sort of unpaid debt. The weird thing is, this number’s never been shared with anyone except close family. Last night, my mum got a call from someone claiming to be Detective Brian Roper, clearly a con artist, asking her about her bank details. She pretended not to understand and gave them my number instead so I could deal with it. Sadly, we never caught their number, but then I get this call today.

I've had enough, so I've blocked the number.
