So I picked up the phone and all I got was complete silence for a bit. Then, out of nowhere, this lady with a really shrill voice began talking, saying she was calling from the treasury to assist with some government debt relief program. I told her straight that I’d just come out of prison and was declared bankrupt, and asked if her mum was proud of her kid for turning out a criminal. Without a word, she just cut the call.

I called the number back later on and got a message saying the line isn’t available at the moment, then the call dropped. Sounds like it’s probably a scam to me.

Got a call from a number I didn't recognise, didn't answer it and there was no voicemail either.

Got a call from a bloke with a really thick South East Asian accent who kept calling me by my name, but said it all wrong. He said he could help clear up some debts I supposedly had. I told him flat out I don’t owe anything, but he just wouldn’t let up. After a bit, I told him exactly what I thought and hung up. Totally felt like a dodgy scam, and pretty amateurish at that. The number was probably faked, claimed to be from Bideford or somewhere near.
