Got a ring from someone called "John" who said he was with BT, but he spoke with a strong Indian accent. You could hear other voices in the background, like a busy call centre. I got a call today from this number, with someone claiming to be from Microsoft’s tech support saying my computer had corrupted files. They mentioned some long ID number and wanted me to log in, but never asked what kind of device I was using. I told them to give me all the info so I could jot it down and check with my work IT team. They said that would take too long and insisted I log in straight away. I kept telling them no way, I wasn’t doing that. Eventually, we both agreed to hang up. Later on, I looked up the number here and saw others had similar experiences.

15th May 2017, around 10:30 in the morning: Got a call from a lady with an Indian accent telling me my internet was under a cyber attack and my router had been compromised. I just said, "Thanks, bye" and ended the call.

So today I got a call just like loads of others. I decided to mess around and told them I’d already been contacted. He said the previous call was a scam and promised to send me an ID to verify it. Then he called back, rattled off this huge ID number, but I couldn’t be bothered and ended the call. He phoned once more after that. Guess I kinda ended up wasting quite a bit of his time - hope he found it as annoying as we do!

This has gotta be a scam for sure. The best way I found to get rid of these annoying calls permanently was to get one of those call blocking devices, like BT Guardian. I've just got a corded phone, so tough luck if you want to ring me - it just sits there ringing and then no one answers. For about six months, I was getting bombarded with calls, sometimes 12 a week, and once even 15 in one day, totalling nearly 500 calls! Setting the blocker up was a bit fiddly at first, but honestly, once it’s running, it’s a total relief.
