I had a rather dodgy encounter with a bloke purporting to be Mr Hassan Ali from the Motor Insurers Bureau. He spoke with a thick Indian accent and seemed incredibly clued-up about my details, bravely throwing around my complete business email and full name as though he knew me personally. This charmer went on to promise a windfall of £4,000 in insurance compensation for a car crash that, quite frankly, never happened! I can’t believe these scams are still doing the rounds.

I got a call from someone called Mr Hassan Ali who claimed to be with the Motor Insurers Bureau. He had quite a thick accent, sounded possibly Indian. He already had my work email which was surprising. He told me it was about a car crash and said I was due to receive between £3,000 and £4,000. However, when I asked for specifics about the accident, he couldn’t give me any info at all. Definite scam in my book.

It's really unsettling that they have all my details like name, address and postcode. When I told the woman I was going to pass her number on to the police, she just cut the call. They really need to start cracking down on these nuisance calls, especially since some folks might be more at risk.

I received a call that seemed to be from EE, offering me a "super cheap" mobile deal. I was under the impression that scammers had gotten more sophisticated these days.
