Received an unexpected call on my phone.

This number is clearly a dodgy one! It appears to be associated with a bunch of broadband con artists posing as representatives from my internet provider. They claimed to be from the technical team at BT, trying to chat about some supposed internet troubles. They even went so far as to request remote access to my computer! Crikey!

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent, saying she was from Virgin Media and that my internet was infected with some malware. She asked if I used a computer or did any online shopping or banking. I told her I don't use any of that stuff and said I'd ring Virgin Media myself to check. Pretty sure it was a scam, so I just blocked the number.

Got a call from someone claiming my internet was hacked, said she was with Virgin Media and asked if I wanted to fix or cancel it! She claimed the connection had been used in about 20 countries which was why it was slow. I told her I'd get in touch with Virgin myself but she kept pushing me to turn on a device like a phone or laptop so she could "demonstrate" the problem. That’s when I just ended the call!

Got a call just before 9am from someone saying they were from Virgin Media, saying there was an issue with our internet router that’s been going on for a couple of weeks. She asked if she could get into my computer to fix whatever the problem was, but honestly our router is fine. The whole thing just sounded like she was reading off some canned script!

Received a call purporting to be from Virgin Media, and they attempted to coax me into performing certain tasks on my computer. I went along with their charade for a bit but refrained from following their instructions. They insisted that my Virgin licence number was displayed on my device and directed me to "ZFSendToTarget=CLSID{888DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062}." I quickly realised this is standard on all Windows machines and has absolutely nothing to do with a licence number at all.

So I’ve got Tourette’s and, during a really bad tic spell, I shouted some swears at this unknown caller by accident. They just hung up on me after that. When I’m feeling a bit more in control, I’m gonna ring up Virgin Media to say sorry and, more importantly, try to figure out who on earth was calling me. Pretty sure it was just some scammer. Received a call from a woman with an Asian accent saying she was from Virgin Media. The background sounded like a packed call centre. She was asking if I had any issues with my internet, which seemed a bit dodgy to me. I’ve been getting calls from this number for the last few weeks. They purport to be from Virgin, alleging some shady goings-on with my internet connection and insisting they need to remotely access my laptop. The first time I challenged their claims, they abruptly hung up, and on the second attempt, they couldn’t seem to explain how they obtained my information, seeing as I’m actually a Sky user. Today, however, they rang again. This time, I decided to have a little fun with it. I engaged in all sorts of chit-chat, asking personal questions like whether they were married, their hometown, and holiday plans-all in a bid to keep the bloke talking. I jumped around various topics and interrupted him whenever he tried to respond. You could tell he was getting more and more flustered, especially when he inquired about what I could see on my laptop. I cheekily replied that I had a nude photo of my wife up! This back-and-forth went on for ages, until he finally caught on to my little game and disconnected. If they call again, I think I’ll employ the same tactic-it’s only fair to fritter away their time and money!

I just received a call claiming there was an issue with my internet connection. I informed them that there wasn’t any problem on my end! They insisted on confirming my information. I pointed out that since they had just rung me, they already possessed my details! The woman on the line became rather impolite and insisted that I needed to pay attention to her. I retorted, questioning her audacity in speaking to me that way, and insisted they ought to be attentive to what I was saying. Suddenly, they cut off the call!

If you’re curious about how they manage to acquire your number, they often buy a vast array of numbers to bombard with calls. Should you choose not to respond, they simply refresh their records, but don't be fooled-they’ll persist in attempting to offload that list to others in a bid to recoup their losses if they haven’t managed to dupe anyone. Being on a preference list for calls? That means nothing to these con artists; they’ll keep ringing you regardless.

Well, if this is indeed a scam, it's quite a clever one, I must say! The individual on the line pointed out numerous issues with my internet service, which initially got my attention. However, the whole charade fell apart when they requested my date of birth and then let slip the name of my bank-albeit he quickly scrambled to say, "Your bank" instead. After that little blunder, he ended the conversation rather hastily. When I attempted to ring them back, the number turned out to be disconnected. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

I received a call claiming to be from Virgin Media, stating that my WiFi was under threat due to eight devices linked to it. I pointed out that was perfectly standard for me, considering my microwave, dishwasher, and even my time machine take up a good chunk of bandwidth. After expressing my gratitude for their 'assistance', I promptly ended the call. Poor chap, he adhered to his script like a trooper!

I’ve recently received a phone call from this number, purporting to be from Virgin Media. They mentioned there was an issue with my IP address, but to be honest, we haven't encountered any problems at home. After the call ended, they’ve been relentlessly attempting to ring me back. Quite suspicious, wouldn't you say?

This bloke claimed to be from Microsoft support, asking for my licence info and personal details. I told him I don’t even have a computer, and he started getting really aggressive, accusing me of lying to a Microsoft worker. Ended up just hanging up and blocking the number straight away.

My phone went off but since the caller didn’t bother to leave a voicemail, I’m guessing they weren’t legit. These days, I just ignore any calls from numbers I don’t know. Honestly, they’re such a hassle! ❤️

When I suggested they should find a proper job, they responded with a rather rude “bugger off!” Can’t say I was entirely surprised, really!

Got a call from some housing association, even though I've never had anything to do with them. They actually knew my first name and kept me waiting on the phone for around 10 minutes before finally ending the call.

This number just rang me but my phone flagged it as spam so I ignored it. They didn’t bother leaving a voicemail either. I looked it up here afterwards and yep, looks like another spam call. These kinds of calls are really annoying.
