I’m getting around fifteen calls a day now. I’m 70 and only use this phone for personal things. This has got to stop, it feels like practically everyone in the country has got hold of my number!

I got a call from someone claiming to be from Citizens Advice saying I owed money. I searched the number online while still on the call and found out it was a scam. I told them I was going to report them for harassment and that the police were already aware. They hung up pretty quickly after that. Now when I try ringing back, it just keeps saying the line is busy.

They knew my home address and postcode, then started asking about life insurance, how much I’ve paid, and whether I had a paper copy of my COVID pass. The bloke, who said his name was Jim and spoke with quite a thick Indian accent, said he was ringing from an office in London. When I asked why the caller ID showed a Canterbury number, he brushed it off saying something about phone networks or whatever. If they actually send that certificate they mentioned… well, I’m not exactly counting on it.

This woman claimed she was from the NHS doing a vaccine questionnaire. She asked me about any side effects and if I needed a vaccine passport sent to me. Then she gave an old postcode I haven't lived at in ages. When I questioned why the NHS wouldn't have my current address, she suddenly said she was actually from track and trace! I asked her to prove it and she just hung up on me.
