I got a call on the 8th of September from this number, and just today I was rung again, but from a slightly different one, only the last two digits were changed. The person claimed they were from Domestic and General and said I could get a 40% discount. Then they put me through to a “manager” to verify the deal. They already knew my name and address, but then asked for my date of birth.

Got a call from some insurance or appliance company, some foreign sounding bloke, probably Indian or something, asking for my missus. When I said she wasn’t available, they just went and hung up on me. Bit rude if you ask me.

Got another scam call from an 02 number today. Proper annoying!

Had a really odd phone experience: got a call with nothing said at first... after a pause, a young woman’s voice came on but just as quick, the call ended. I then rang 1471, found out the number, called it back... only to get some automated message in an American accent before it just dropped the line... bit weird, honestly!

I've had calls from them about six times already. They mention Barnsley as their location, so you'd think it'd be pretty easy for someone to track them down, show up at their place, and take all their gear away.

I've received calls claiming to be from Domestic and General, attempting to persuade me to switch my appliance insurance or warranty. Whenever I push back or ask questions, they simply cut the line. Quite suspicious, I must say!

Saw the number come up as Barnsley but didnt pick up. After reading through the comments, I’m definitely going to block it.

I took a few seconds to pick up, and they just ended the call straight away. From what I've seen in these reviews, it sounds exactly like one of those dodgy scam calls. I've blocked the number now.

01226 667719 Barnsley area, England I got a ring from this number out of nowhere. I knew straight away it was some sort of dodgy call, so I told the person to take me off their call list. The bloke just laughed and said, “Why would I do that?” I told him it’s the law to remove you if you ask, but he just said, “I’ll ring you again tomorrow!” Seriously cheeky behaviour. Needless to say, I blocked them immediately and have reported the number. Ridiculous!

Got a call from this number yesterday and again today. I didn’t pick up either time and they didn’t leave any voicemail. Looked it up on this site and ended up blocking it. Really sick of these calls, they should seriously be put to an end.

This was definitely a scam call pretending to be from Domestic and General about appliance insurance. I don’t actually have any insurance with them. When I asked how they even got my number, the guy said my landlord must have given it since they supply the appliances, but it’s the landlord who’s the customer, not me! I asked which appliance the insurance was for, and the caller couldn’t answer. Then he just said “no worries, have a nice day” and tried to end the call. I said hang on, maybe you can help - what if my fridge or washing machine breaks, do I have a policy as you claimed? Still no clear answers, but eventually he guessed I might have a Hotpoint washing machine (which I don’t). At no point did I give them any details, and at least I wasted a few minutes of their time instead of someone else getting scammed!

I keep getting calls from this number, it's seriously starting to annoy me. They seemed pretty sharp and tricky, almost had me convinced, but thankfully I never gave them any of my bank info!

Every time I pick up some calls, they just go quiet on the other end, with some sort of music playing in the background. Really odd and annoying.

So I got a call claiming to be from "Domestic and General." They said they were checking on my policy, but then they started insisting I spell out my surname and give my full address! They were also asking about the name of my appliance, supposedly to verify things. When I didn’t give them any info, they kept saying "You should have this info," and then passed me to a 'senior manager.' I fired back questions like, “What’s my policy number? What’s the make of my machine? How much do I pay, and what’s the cost of the renewed policy?” They wanted £65 for one year or £256 for three years, which I thought was suspicious. Every time I asked, the person claimed they had to get someone even more senior because they didn’t have the answers on screen - this happened three times! I refused to give any details, telling each new 'manager' I’d give answers to the next one… had a bit of fun with it since it was obviously a scam. When I asked about the monthly payment to check their figures, the guy just said “a very big discount, madam,” but couldn’t actually work out the maths. Eventually, he put me on hold saying his calculator was on another desk, but never came back with a clear answer. At that point, I flat out told him I thought it was a scam because none of them had any of my actual details. He kept insisting he wasn’t a scammer and then, awkwardly, asked for my date of birth three times. Obviously, I said no every time. The last ‘senior manager’ even started with a posh English accent, but gradually it shifted into a polite Asian accent during the call. Before hanging up, I told him I’d answer if the senior manager called - I totally fibbed, no call came. I made sure to ask them to slow down, as they were rushing through everything which I know they do to make as many calls as possible. I dragged the call on until I finished by telling them flat out, “You’re scammers, go away.” Seriously, don’t give out any details, especially your DOB, because that can be used against you in so many ways. Stay sharp!

They kept asking odd questions and didn’t seem to know anything about my appliances. Then they said they’d put me through to a “Senior Manager” to complete the policy. Honestly, it felt like they were just trying to gather my personal details. If they were legitimate, they’d have everything on their system already, not needing to ask me like that. Watch out for this one, it’s definitely a scam.

I received a call from someone claiming to be following up on a small car accident I supposedly had, one where I'd done nothing wrong. As the conversation unfolded, it dawned on me that it was all a ruse to trick me. They were clearly fishing for my banking details and even had the audacity to ask for them directly.

Answered the call but no one spoke.

Someone called me claiming to be from Domestic and General, but they definitely weren’t. I rang Domestic and General myself just to check, and they said it wasn’t them. Pretty sure it’s a scam, so be careful and don’t share any of your details with them.

Got a call the other day from a number I didn’t recognise. They claimed to be Domestic & General, saying my appliance cover was about to expire. Problem is, I’ve never even had cover with them!
