I got a call on the 8th of September from this number, and just today I was rung again, but from a slightly different one, only the last two digits were changed. The person claimed they were from Domestic and General and said I could get a 40% discount. Then they put me through to a “manager” to verify the deal. They already knew my name and address, but then asked for my date of birth.

Got a call from some insurance or appliance company, some foreign sounding bloke, probably Indian or something, asking for my missus. When I said she wasn’t available, they just went and hung up on me. Bit rude if you ask me.

Got another scam call from an 02 number today. Proper annoying!

Had a really odd phone experience: got a call with nothing said at first... after a pause, a young woman’s voice came on but just as quick, the call ended. I then rang 1471, found out the number, called it back... only to get some automated message in an American accent before it just dropped the line... bit weird, honestly!

I've had calls from them about six times already. They mention Barnsley as their location, so you'd think it'd be pretty easy for someone to track them down, show up at their place, and take all their gear away.

Saw the number come up as Barnsley but didnt pick up. After reading through the comments, I’m definitely going to block it.

I took a few seconds to pick up, and they just ended the call straight away. From what I've seen in these reviews, it sounds exactly like one of those dodgy scam calls. I've blocked the number now.

The chap on the other end had the gall to ask, “Why should I?” Quite the audacity! I reminded him that it’s against the law not to comply when someone asks to be removed, and do you know what he said? “I’ll ring you again tomorrow!” Can you believe the nerve? I've swiftly blocked the number and reported them!

Got a call from this number yesterday and again today. I didn’t pick up either time and they didn’t leave any voicemail. Looked it up on this site and ended up blocking it. Really sick of these calls, they should seriously be put to an end.

ABSOLUTE CON! I received a call claiming to be from Domestic and General regarding appliance insurance, which I don’t possess. I queried how they obtained my number since my landlord provided all the appliances in the property - therefore, they should be the customer, not me. Their response was that they have a plethora of clients, but it seems I'm not one of them! When I pressed them for details about which appliance they were referring to, they were utterly stumped. The caller simply wished me a nice day, but I wasn’t finished. I thought I’d turn the tables and said, what if my fridge or washing machine were to malfunction? Do I have a policy, as you insisted I’m a client? They were clueless about the appliances that might be under warranty. Eventually, I believe they took a wild stab and mentioned a Hotpoint washing machine - which I do not own! I didn’t divulge any personal info, but hey, at least I enjoyed wasting five minutes of their time instead of them defrauding someone else!

This phone number constantly rings me, and it’s utterly infuriating! They’re quite shrewd and crafty, managed to pull the wool over my eyes for a bit, but thankfully, I never shared any banking information!

I was then bounced around, each "manager" seemingly unable to provide answers to basic questions. I quizzed them about my policy number, the name of my machine, and my payment details. They had the gall to quote me £65 for a 12-month policy or £256 over three years without answering any of my queries. Each time I asked for specifics, they claimed they needed to hand me to yet another "senior manager" who, surprise, had no information on hand either. So, I refused to divulge any answers, insisting I’d provide them to the next manager who cared to ask. It’s a fun little game, especially when you're aware of the con. One highlight was when I inquired about my monthly payment. They were eager to proclaim I’d get "a very big discount, madam." But when I pressed for an actual figure, it was like pulling teeth! They fumbled to give me a monthly breakdown of the £65, even claiming their calculator was in another room. At that point, I gently explained that I wholeheartedly believed I was being scammed, given they had none of my details that should have been readily available for someone in their position. The final "senior manager" suddenly adopted this overly posh accent, but as the chat progressed, it quickly devolved into a thickly accented politeness. By the end, I promised I’d answer if their senior manager attempted to call back - little did they know, I was fibbing the whole time! They never did call back, of course. I made it clear as the call dragged on that they were indeed SCAMMERS and to buzz off. Please, for anyone reading this, steer clear of giving away any personal details. Just sharing your date of birth could lead to a heap of trouble for you.

I’ve put this number on my blocked list, as it’s clearly a scam operating under the guise of Domestic and General. I already hold a policy with them, so it’s crucial to remain vigilant. They pose some rather ridiculous questions and don’t seem to know anything about your appliances. They even attempt to ‘transfer’ you to some so-called ‘Senior Manager’ who will help you buy more cover. Just a heads up-don’t divulge any of your personal details. They’re just fishing for information! If they were legitimate, surely they’d have all the details readily available on their screens!
